2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

11W Forums with a new name at CB to watch.....

Birm today on his talking stuff:
-OSU still wants a third corner. He sees OSU moving down the list past Bronaugh because he doesn't see him taking a discount in NIL to come to OSU.
-Truly Bell from California might be someone they target at CB.
-Tennessee trying to save Bey in their class by visiting him today. Might not matter. Mick Walker said Bey might be wearing OSU gear at his playoff game tonight. Both said it might be very hard for the Vols to win this one back.
Stay gold, Ponyboy.

Truly Bell is another late cycle Walt Special.
He's extremely long and barely noticed by recruiting services.
As the 2,032nd ranked recruit, I imagine he won't require much in the way of NIL

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a new, familiar face as part of their coaching staff this season.
Former Ohio State center Kosta Koufos joined the wine and gold this offseason. The Canton, Ohio, native will be a member of the Cavs' player development staff this season, according to a source.

Before Cleveland's win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night, Koufos was seen working out with Cavs center Thomas Bryant.

The 7-footer concluded his 11-year NBA career in 2019. He averaged 5.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game while playing for five different teams throughout his career. His best season came in 2012-13, when Koufos averaged 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game in 22.4 minutes per contest across 81 starts, all of which were career-highs.
Following his NBA career, Koufos signed with CSKA Moscow in the EuroLeague, a two-year, $6 million deal that made the big man the highest-paid American in Europe at the time.
In his lone season at Ohio State in 2007-08, the former Buckeye averaged 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 27.1 minutes per game. He was named the 2007-08 NIT MVP and was also on the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

Game Thread #1 tOSU at Purdue, Sat. Nov. 8th, 1 pm ET, BTN

THE ROSS-ADE BLUES? Purdue has beaten a ranked Ohio State team eight times, with four of those coming when the Buckeyes ranked in the top five. That includes the infamous 49-20 blowout in 2018 and the 31-27 defeat in 2000, which propelled Drew Brees and the Boilermakers to a Big Ten title.

Speaking of which, Purdue will welcome back Donald Winston, a wide receiver on the Boilermakers’ 2000 team, to Ross-Ade Stadium to be the team’s honorary captain on Saturday. Bad vibes!

On Tuesday, Ryan Day shared his respect for Barry Odom and the Purdue football program. Odom said the respect is mutual — but made it clear that his team isn’t interested in moral victories or Ohio State’s résumé.

“Well, I think, you know, I’ve got a lot of respect for Coach Day. I think they have great players. They’ve got a great scheme,” Odom said. “But the more time you would spend on they’re 8-0, they’re undefeated, they’ve got all the different things, the numbers by their school, rankings and all those things. To me, respectfully, that’s wasted time. I think you try to look for advantages for your team. Again, I’ll say it, I have a lot for how they play the game, the players they have and the coaches they have, but it’s about how good we can get this week to try to execute the game plan. If we worry about the color of the uniform or the ranking, then that’s wasted energy in my opinion.”

My advice to Day and the Buckeyes? Don’t look past Odom and the Boilermakers — even if they’re 2-7. Crazy things tend to happen at Ross-Ade Stadium.

REMEMBER WHEN…? I learned this week that Barry Odom faced Ohio State twice while he played linebacker at Missouri from 1996-99. The Buckeyes beat the Tigers in both matchups — a 31-10 win in Columbia in 1997, and a 35-14 win in Columbus in 1998.

“I remember both of them well,” Odom said this week.

I’m not sure what Odom remembers about the Tigers’ losses, but I bet he can recall watching Andy Katzenmoyer send his quarterback, Corby Jones, to the Aether.

While Katzenmoyer’s six tackles trailed Antoine Winfield (13) and Kevin Johnson (nine) for the team lead vs. Missouri in 1997, Odom led the Tigers with 11 tackles, including one for loss and one forced fumble. The following year, Katzenmoyer paced the Buckeyes with 12 takedowns, while Odom’s 10 ranked third on the Tigers behind Carlos Posey (13) and Marquis Gibson (13). Odom also led Missouri with six solo stops.

Technology Gone Wild: Rise of the Machines

Forgive my ignorance, but hasn't AI been 'doctoring' the sounds of singers for eons? Running voices through the mixers has produced melodic sounds forever. Anyway, guess the visual AI has caught up with the non-visual, and has simply done it. No wonder the Hollywood actors struck, trying to keep AI from using their likeness.

Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Taking this from the recruiting thread.

Their whole identity as a football program is so fucked up. An old demon coached there for 60 years, won 2 titles in 5 years, and then a total of 3 conference championships post ‘93. PSU won enough to stay relevant, but the real draw was JoePa and his following. The fans, media, and sport paid reverence to him, not Penn St, and it created monsters and a rudderless program after he left in disgrace.

The sooner they move on, the better, but they never will. His success is all they can point to that seperates them from Iowa or a dozen other decent programs. And the more they point to him as the pinnacle of football, the longer it’ll take to develop their own identity.

Franklin wasn’t a great coach but he was as or more consistent than JoePa was in his final 2 decades. And that’s all you really need to know about the quality of JoePa and their program.
The fact that Pedsters(fans and alum alike) refer to JoePa as "God" should tell you all you need about how their fanbase thinks
