Minnesota upsets No. 11 USC: Late overturned call into TD lifts Gophers to stunning win over Trojans

Minnesota made a gutsy call -- and benefitted from video review -- to earn a 24-17 upset win against No. 11 USC on Saturday. On fourth-and-goal from inside USC's 1-yard line, and with less than 1 minute to play, the Gophers lined up to go for it instead of kicking a go-ahead field goal.

Quarterback Max Brosmer kept it on a sneak and was initially ruled down before he crossed the goal line; however, video review showed him clearly plunging into the end zone with possession of the ball. The officials were quick to overturn the decision and award Minnesota the touchdown.

No. 23 Indiana Football is the first FBS team to earn bowl-eligibility following their 6-0 record win.

Just sayin': So far they haven't had that difficult a schedule. Somebody ranked the level of difficulty of their opponents (below) and overall the first 6 teams should definitely be the easiest of the 2 halves. In addition, Ohio State is the only really good team they play all season.

They’re very plucky… might beat them by 50 but might lose on a last minute play.

And everything in between

Meanwhile, both OSU and Oregon won big. Not sure what brought about the false confidence to begin with.

Game Thread Iowa at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 5, 3:30pm ET, CBS

The defense was ridiculous today, pure Silver Bullet play and figured it was a hiccup last game. We'll find out next week. But my short recap is a dominant OL (fuck yeah and finally), can run the ball against a legit defense, and Howard is decisive. Defense is better served up at the line on games like this and we made the right adjustments. Easily the most well rounded game this season. Great work today, that was fun to watch.
