2025 tOSU Defense Discussion

Login to view embedded media I'm just joking, I will forever appreciate Knowles for helping to bring an NC to OSU. But I firmly stand behind the new DC

I said this before the season and I think even after 1 game I’m ready to state it as fact. This is a better back 7 than we had last year.

I think Matthews is a big upgrade, IGB you can tell really worked on his technique, Downs is everywhere, McClain really played solid, and the two LBs are just a nightmare. The LBs have to be the best set of backers since when? I’d imagine Hawk/Carpenter?

Then the scheme is really interesting for the front four/pressure. Damn, you can really tell the high level football that Patricia has brought.

I’m so damn excited to see how this defense builds on each week. Also, that PSU matchup with Knowles is going to be fun.
I think the best part of Patricia is seeing what he'll have cooked up every week. In CFB, most DCs are married to their scheme(for good reason), but in the NFL if you do that, you're cooked because offenses will figure you out so fast and easily. Patricia isn't being overly complicated in what he's asking of the defense, but is asking them to make looks and make slight changes to throw of an offense. It'll be interesting to see what he does to Washington and then a team like Illinois, as both are quite different offenses than Texas. The offense for Texas came down to a few plays that were honestly some amazing throws by Arch and catches by Livingstone and Endries. But you can't rely on highlight level throws and catches to have a competent offense.
It will then be interesting to see how Patricia alters the defense to stop run heavy teams like Ped St and scUM. 2 teams who want their OLs and RBs to set the tone, but the back 7 for OSU is some of the most physical and fast as we've seen in a while.

It doesn’t matter who they hired. That guy was the guy after Saban.
Yeah, anyone who was hired after Saban was set up to fail. And even if they decide to can DeBoer now(I believe his buyout is $70mil :yow2:), I don't think a Gruden or Fisher would help much, ESPECIALLY Fisher! And it would show how the mighty have fallen to actually pursue the Vandy HC :slappy:
Saban set the bar too high to hire another "name" HC, but their fan base won't accept anyone without a "name". Welp :saban:

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, Arrogant Twatwaffles, Emasculated Cucks, Feckless Marmots, Dirty Cheaters

Did not see any of this game. Unbiased opinion, how did Underwood look considering he is a true freshman?

I thought he looked pretty solid for a true freshman. Could tell they gave him a lot of single reads and if it wasn’t there, go ahead and use your feet.

Michigans system is tricky to defend on intermediate pass plays because they utilize multiple TE’s and do a good job with picks and rubs, or getting guys free against zone coverage with flood concepts.

Their offense did stall out quite a bit after a hot start…I thought New Mexico was done after the first 10-ish minutes but they battled and made it competitive.
