Two things I haven't loved about Francona but I'm also a fan watching from the outside:

The management of pitching and we don't run on teams this year. He moves pitchers sometimes at the weirdest times and sometimes leaves guys in for no apparent reason. Last season we ran with impunity on teams and you could tell it bothered opposing teams a lot.

My opinion he has slowed Elly down for some reason and his impact on games has suffered which makes the team suffer. On nights like tonight though it wouldnt matter much because pitching is still on the break from the bullpen standpoint and back end of the rotation.

Like it or not, he's gotta answer for the conference not Ohio State's perspective. Sometimes you just have to say shit. Having nothing to go on by way of having listened to him on the issue, or even having read a synopsis of his remarks beyond whats visible above... Just wondering how heartfelt the appeal was.
