In today's game, punishing the team is no longer punishing the players. They can transfer out to a team that isn't being punished. No one is stuck playing for that team. So NCAA's claim that they didn't want to punish current players is boof.

As for the for-reals reason they didn't punish the cheaters, remember that the Big Ten just signed a contract with the TV networks for a bazillion dollars. The TV networks didn't want their product damaged. And *ichigan is part of their product. They stepped in and said that *ichigan needs to be able to maintain their standing. Wave their hand a little and tell the empire that these aren't the droids you're looking for.

The NCAA showed that they're gutless turds and aren't needed. And that's that.

I still think there were money forces breathing down the NCAAs neck because they didn't want to have to actually admit that multiple seasons of the sport were completely compromised. The slap on the wrist punishment basically allowed everything to be laughed off and never seriously discussed again.

Not good here… Uvalde has had close to 30“ of rain in the last 72 hours…. The same area that got hit by floods last 4th that killed over 100 kids in summer camps got hit again, thankfully the Camps took it seriously and no issues report yet… further up another river might be breaking it floor stage record from 1979 … some of these rivers are seeing double peaks because of where and when the rain is falling…. we needed the rain but not like this….

I remember when I was a kid, after we moved to Oregon from LA driving through the San Joaquin going back and forth on visits. It was like the garden of Eden, so many farms. I remember there was a stretch of I-5 that was cattle ranches for miles and miles, the smell was unbearable. The last time I drove through there about 15 years ago it looked like the Sahara desert.

Bravo. You're entirely correct. One is merely a piece of meat in the machine. Lots of good ideas above, although hopefully full of things one would 'like to say', but not really say. As a hiring agent, always ask why left last position. Some answers are real doozies. But when one checks with previous employers, if they say 'would not be eligible for rehire' it cause one to pause. Not burning bridges is always the best course. Who knows, maybe your stock portfolio takes a tumble, and you need that income bridge before stocks turn north again. Anyway, have discussed/thought many of the same things opined above. Oh yeah, when doing my due diligence on a recruit, always check on the previous employer before the one where they are currently. Will get a more unbiased answer. Could be that the current employer blows smoke up your six in order to get you gone! Anyway, did day trading on JD Uniphase, and lost a quick $25,000, and decided not my jam. Have been retired for 10 Years now, and wouldn't have it any other way. Served on Grand Jury, and wasn't thrilled to have to get up and meet a specific meeting time. But can do for a tee time. Go figure.

Flood watch here in Phoenix from this afternoon until late tonight. We're supposed to have some thunderstorms roll through and they're expecting some heavy rains.

Ohio has always had good basketball players, getting them to stay in-state has been a problem. Now, it appears that Diebs is getting that to happen. Love it, and hope we see more of it. My fervent wish is that tOSU basketball (men and women) would get the populace to react like Buckeye football, and look at the home fires first, before making a recruiting decision.

They've come and gone, and our fundraising never slows down. You can go all the way back to our first multi-year campaign in the mid 80s that had a goal of 250M and raised 450M--a record at the time for a public university.

Dude did a huge job on the recent campaign, but the next guy will do just fine.
