Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Damn, Davino with the 2 seed is tough. He was ranked ahead of Forrest heading into the weekend, beat Blaze, who was #1, and won the B1G and the minds give Forrest the 1 seed? :hoke:

[tin foil cap]I guess they want to see rematches and are assuming Seidel and Davino lose to see Blaze vs Forrest in the final.[/tin foil cap]

125 Bouzakis: 3 seed
133 Davino: 2 seed
141 Mendez: 1 seed
149 Stiles: 7 seed
157 Cannon: 8 seed
165 Gallagher: 16 seed
174 Kharchla: 4 seed
184 Fishback: 12 seed
197 Geog: 12 seed
285 Feldman: 5 seed

Some tough draws for our guys and some equally tough draws for other guys on top teams other than Penn State. Freshman Jaxon Joy from Cornell and from Wadsworth, is the 2 seed at 149. He and Stiles have a good shot at meeting.

I’m going to be optimistic about Geog’s and Fishback’s draws. I don’t mind them, nor do I mind Bouzakis’s and Kharchla’s. Bouzakis should see Volk in the quarters and get some revenge. Cannon gets healthier and goes nuts. Feldman gets a 4th shot at Ferrari and moves on for a rematch with Bastida.

Tangent alert and perhaps a hot take or two. I think Van Ness goes down and so does Welsh. Lilledhal could also get upset. They could have 8 champs or 3. Shapiro could beat Duke. Haines could get upset by either Mantanona or Facundo in the top half of the bracket. A lot can happen. Side note, Penn State wrestling fans are up there as the worst of the worst. They are extremely good at multitasking though. They have achieved dead nuts balance between gobbling their team’s proverbial cock and then removing said cock and talking shit with their penis breath to everybody else. Once they’re done talking shit, back to gargling nuts.

Projections, based on seeds, have Ohio State coming in 3rd behind Oklahoma State and Penn State.

As far as Indiana goes, they might be having buyers remorse over Coach DeVries. He brought his son with him this year to lead the team - an advantage they lose next season - they paid amongst the top teams in the conference on NIL, and still didn't make the tournament. Pretty disappointing first season for him there.

Just sayin': Indiana might have had buyers remorse over every other coach they hired since Bob Knight too.

Ohio State Reportedly Promoting Executive Vice President and Provost Ravi Bellamkonda to President

Ohio State is promoting from within to replace Ted Carter.

Ohio State executive vice president and provost Ravi Bellamkonda will be the university’s new president, Sheridan Hendrix of The Columbus Dispatch reported Wednesday. His promotion will be formally announced by the Ohio State Board of Trustees during a public meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Bellamkonda has been Ohio State’s executive vice president and provost, serving as the chief academic officer of the university, since January 2025. Bellamkonda previously served as the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Emory University.

Bellamkonda, who holds a Ph.D. from Brown University and also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at MIT, started his professional career as a professor at Case Western Reserve University and was later a professor and associate vice chair for research at Georgia Tech, a president of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and the dean of engineering at Duke.

Bellamkonda’s promotion comes just three days after Carter resigned as Ohio State’s president. Carter, who had been Ohio State’s president since January 2024, resigned after the university learned that Carter had “an inappropriate relationship with someone seeking public resources to support her personal business.” According to multiple reports, the relationship in question was with Kristanhe Vlachos, the host of The Callout Podcast, who started an LLC in December that listed the offices of WOSU, a public broadcasting service owned by the university, as its headquarters.

Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

Texas just got upset by Ole Miss (13-19) in the SEC 1st round, which is a Quad 2 loss, to finish 18-14. Longhorns were listed by Lunardi as "Last 4 byes" prior to the loss. I hope the Horns get left out.
With all the other teams losing I think Texas will be in but in Dayton for a 2nd straight year.

At least with all these teams losing the odds of Ohio State being in Dayton feel unlikely when the worst they can do is lose to a team that is at a minimum their equal.

UCF should have lost but Cincy crapped the bed up 8 with 2 mins left

While OSU was basically a lock already, I still am rooting for bubble teams lose considering that's the only way OSU doesn't make it is mass conference tourney chaos. I'm loving it today, lots of bubble teams getting beaten. IU had an awful finish to the season, finishing 18-14 while losing 6 of their last 7 (including getting double-tapped by Northwestern).

Texas loses to Ole Miss which is a bad loss, this puts them on the ropes

Cal gets blown out by a bad Florida State team which should eliminate them.

SMU losing doesn't hurt either. The ACC teams around the bubble really crapped the bed
