2027 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Would expect a drop off in WR recruiting, sans Hartline, until the 'new guy' can prove himself with development. Not past practice (LSU), but current practice (tOSU). Or maybe the new gameplan is to NOT go whole hog on the 5* WRs, but take some higher 4* and develop into 5*s? Makes sense, but in the NIL world, who knows.....
I think the new recruiting model for WRs will be, pursue the highest ranked HSers and then hit the Portal. The days of relying solely on HS talent are over for the foreseeable future. That 4star from GA probably won't be able to help until year 2 or even 3, the transfer can help immediately on the field, and could also offer valuable leadership that a true frosh or RS frosh cannot. The 2025 class for example, was filled with guys who wouldn't contribute until year 2(Porter) or up to year 3 or 4(Miller and Bell). McCuin and Parker are fighting to start already and have been Buckeyes for a few months

Ohio State men's basketball: "Good roster that underwhelmed"
Does this confirm your feelings on the men's basketball team?
According to this chart from analytics guru Evan Miyakawa, Ohio State fits in the bucket of "good rosters that underwhelmed" alongside UCLA, Kentucky, Louisville and BYU.

Yeah, that preseason roster grade needs to be looked at more critically. Does it over-value offense vs. defense?
Based on this guy’s analysis, we should have been preseason top-15.

C Ivan Njegovan (Official Thread)

Not disagreeing, as when compared to Tilly, appears to be a world of difference. Like how Tilly works with his back to the basket, as well as facing up. That is area of C development (anywhere and anybody). He's gotta get more physical, have watched him get blocked out, and simply stand there and accept it, rather than spinning around, and now blocking out his man. Plus, leads to 'puppy guarding' (daughter's term), around the rim, and not going out to challenge his opponent. Cannot wait to see how he develops, and assuming we get the Baylor transfer back next year, how that translates into blocks and rebounds. Go Bucks!

Baltimore Ravens (Official Thread)

Sources: Ravens agree to sign Trey Hendrickson to 4-year, $112M deal

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to sign free agent defensive end Trey Hendrickson, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter, in a high-priced pivot after their canceled blockbuster trade for Maxx Crosby.

The sides agreed to a four-year, $112 million deal that can be worth up to $120 million with incentives, according to Schefter. The deal includes $60 million fully guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus, sources told Schefter.

The deal keeps Hendrickson, a four-time Pro Bowler with the Cincinnati Bengals, in the AFC North and provides the Ravens with a much-needed star pass rusher less than 24 hours after Baltimore backed out of its trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby.

Absolutely love that graph. Everyone on this board automatically looks to see where tOSU stands/sits whatever. There's a lot of muscle in the B10 this year, so will take two wins in the B10's before the dance. That's where the rubber meets the road. Would love to see a Sweet Sixteen from our beloved Buckeyes. Also better from the distaff side. Go Bucks

2027 FL DL Wyatt Smith (Verbal Offer)

Well, did go back to my HS (Whetstone) once upon a time, and looked in the trophy case, and nary a mention of our legendary '67 sports exploits. So, yeah get that. But an athletic powerhouse such as Aquinas must have a 'look at who played here' wall/case with pictures of all the outstanding athletes that went here. Rhetorical observation only. Am certain that list would be long and storied.

'26 FL PF Joe Philon (UCLA Verbal)

Last successful 6'8" PG can remember was Magic. And he was magic. But coaches seem to have a knack of sorting out skills, and matching them to positions on the floor. And with the rotations these days, have seen 5's at top of key, and 1-2's down low. Very fluid. What am babbling to say, putting a kid in a box doesn't mean they stay there, with the way players rotate.
