OC/WR Coach Brian Hartline (National Champion, HC at USF, Buckeye OC for this postseason)

I doubt this was a surprise for anyone in the WHAC.

That said, who do you go after? Real question.
There's a pretty obvious playcalling solution to go back to...

There are zero solutions to replace the greatest position recruiter in the history of CFB. That said, if your staff gets better at recruiting DL and worse at WR, you come out ahead.

It's ideal timing if he's destined to be the next HC after Day, or the guy after Day, to get experience. Get two consecutive good seasons in and rip the band-aid off and start that process.

plus announcing it today to me says the conversations with the recruits was ongoing and they were honest and up front about it

It was inevitable kind of shocked it's a G5 program though thought he'd end up at a P4 job
Maybe the thought of coaching those backwards hillbilly cult fucks in State College was too repulsive for him.

I was hoping we paid enough to prevent a move like this, but from his end it makes sense. Much eaiser to go to a smaller school and dominate, then get a job at a top 10ish program in a few years. Much harder to go to a mid P4 school and turn it into a competitor.

Me too, but I’m guessing he got more control and he likes the Florida spot without having the pressure of a P4 school.

It sucks, but I’m not shocked, just hoped it’d be one more year. But that’s how it goes. Hope he stays through the playoffs but not sure how that works.

Also hoping it won’t affect the WR room a lot but not sure.

BYU Cougars (mormons)

I have nothing of note to add to this thread except that I drove past their campus last week.
that whole area is freaking gorgeous.
I may try to make a trip there again just to watch a baseball game with that view.
I wasn't in Provo, but did do a work conference this summer in SLC, right outside of Utah's campus. Utah is beautiful, and seeing the sun rise and set over the mountains was a nice change from my usual only seeing it set over Pikes Peak.
