2026 tOSU Defense Discussion

Seems we are about done so first glance day 1 line up should be something similar to the following

DE- Jackson
DT- Smith
DT- Walker
LB/DE- Russaw / Alliegro
LB- Pierce
LB- Pettijohn
CB- Matthews
CB- Sanchez
NB- Little
S- McClain
S- Moore

This defense will be very interesting. I can see us playing similar to last year, but I can also see the defense morphing into a 3-4 with the additions of Russaw/Alliegro to Pettijohn/Pierce/Alford.

Wondering if we could even see Houston moved back out to end for example.

Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

I remember dudes where I'm from that would make trail bologna out of groundhogs, not waste them like that loser Thump. IIRC there was this place (and I don't want to get it wrong but, think like a sportsman's club) where they would get a pool together and whoever shot the biggest groundhog that year would win the pot, but they'd shoot it, bring it to some location to get it weighed, then they'd field dress it and throw it in the freezer, then at the end there was this big event to do the trail bologna making (they might have done other stuff, but my buddy would enter every year and he didn't like trail bologna, like a loser)

sounds almost like the NutriaFest.

except they don't really cook them there. Wee just eradicate them (have bounties on them and everything because they're invasive pests).

but we do have contests there.
heaviest individual nutria.
heaviest bag limit.

then they do Nutria tossing (literally throwing the carcasses).
contests for distance thrown.
plus one where there's coolers (usually Yetis) down range filled with water. toss the Nutria carcass into a cooler and you win that cooler.

OL Devontae Armstrong (National Champion, transfer to Miami, OH)

Was wondering about the twins, and how come they didn't rise to the top, so thanks Pnut. When they signed on, being from a top-tier program, truly believed that we'd solved 40% of our OL needs right there. Seems like I was proven wrong (once again), but had zero clue how come. Kept looking at the two-deep (or three when shown), and maybe one showed up, in the guard position. Coaching is like a drink of alcohol, it only affects one if taken. Anyway, will look forward to trying to keep track of them wherever they alight. And their progress. Go Bucks! PS, would imagine one of the hardest parts of coaching, telling the kid that they won't be seeing the field much....

CB Aaron Scott Jr. (National Champion, transfer to Oregon)

And have no earthly idea whether this is an upgrade or not. Maybe just a little more experience, but it seems like we fans expect more from a Power 5 transfer, rather than others. I didn't look at his bio, to see how much he played at Georgia, or whether he was stuck in a loaded DB room down there, much like Aaron was here. Time will tell.

2024 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

A thought keeps niggling in the back of my mind, all the focus is on the NIL $, and probably rightfully so. Does anyone have a handle on how much of the what, $22 million, that tOSU must pay its athletes? Guess it comes from the athletic department coffers, but thought it had to be spread around to ALL of the scholarship athletes, regardless of being revenue producers or not. Not certain how this is divvied out among the 36-odd sports under the scarlet & gray banner, so if anyone could clear away the fog, or point me to some blog somewhere, would be appreciated. Again, obviously the mandated payout does not hold alot of weight against the millions in NIL dollars, and isn't even enough to pay the taxes on the NIL loot. Thanks in advance. PS, see the football unis with Nike logo, but how about the golf team? Or rugby (know its club sport), etc. Or does the football team get the bulk (as there's more visibility to football/basketball than the other sports)....

Ohio State @ Washington, Sunday Jan. 11, 6pm EST, Peacock

The machine is playing well. Of course, the other team is on scholarship as well. Do like the way the bigs are playing, obviously before injuries. Also enjoy Devin sneaking in the paint to snag a rebound. He skies bigger than his height. And do believe that Thornton is 'taken for granted', probably by Buckeye faithful, as always going to have a 20 point, 6 assist, 5 rebound night. But if you iso on him, he works very hard for what he gets.

I honestly don't know that one.
they might, I just don't know of anyone that does.
