Headlines You Don't See Every Day (outside of Florida)

A.I. Researchers Are Negotiating $250 Million Pay Packages. Just Like N.B.A. Stars.

A.I. technologists are approaching the job market as if they were Steph Curry or LeBron James, seeking advice from their entourages and playing hardball with the highest bidders.

Mr. Zuckerberg wanted Mr. Deitke, a 24-year-old artificial intelligence researcher who had recently helped found a start-up, to join Meta’s research effort dedicated to “superintelligence,” a technology that could hypothetically exceed the human brain. The company promised him around $125 million in stock and cash over four years if he came aboard.

The offer was not enough to lure Mr. Deitke, who wanted to stick with his start-up, two people with knowledge of the talks said. He turned Mr. Zuckerberg down.

So Mr. Zuckerberg personally met with Mr. Deitke. Then Meta returned with a revised offer of around $250 million over four years, with potentially up to $100 million of that to be paid in the first year, the people said. The compensation jump was so startling that Mr. Deitke asked his peers what to do. After many discussions, some of them urged him to take the deal — which he did.

Silicon Valley’s A.I. talent wars have become so frenzied — and so outlandish — that they increasingly resemble the stratospheric market for N.B.A. stars.

Just sayin': Would anybody here turn down a $250M job offer?

Seriously, AI seems to be the wave of the future. Ohio State is integrating it in their curriculums too:

2025 Fall Camp and Other Tidbits

Shout out to Lincoln K (Dakota) for being one of eight players named Iron Buckeyes today. Dakota is doing everything he can to win the QB job. He's probably the best athlete on the team. It's his third year in the system and he is the best leader and the most consistent QB of the bunch. Consistency is what Day and Hart harp on all the time. "Doing the routine things routinely". All to say, let's not sleep on Lincoln.
Not only that but it’s reported he’s the calming voice in the huddle FWIW.

He just might win this thing

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

premierdrum: 6 hours ago
Good morning from the last day of band camp.
Bylaw requires that charged parties are notified prior to public release, but doesn't specify how much advance notice is required.
Typical cases involve disclosure to charged parties the day prior. However, should the COI have reason to believe the parties might leak the decision, that advance notice could be minimized to hours or even less. That sort of flexibility could come into play with this.
We have a little ad hoc group chat going of connected folks sniffing for smoke. There's no reason thus far to believe that we're in the notification window, but we've known since Monday that UM has been expecting that notification at any point.

Just sayin': Anybody else wonder what went on at his "band camp"?
