Browns keep 3 QBs on roster, put Dillon Gabriel (back) on IR

The Cleveland Browns on Sunday trimmed their roster from four quarterbacks to three ahead of the NFL's cut-down deadline at 6 p.m. ET Sunday but did so without cutting or trading a passer.

Instead, Cleveland placed Dillon Gabriel on injured reserve and designated him to return with a back injury. The Browns will carry Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and rookie Taylen Green as the quarterbacks on their initial 53-man roster.

Gabriel injured his back in Cleveland's preseason-closing win against the New England Patriots on Thursday night, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Gabriel had pain Saturday and underwent an MRI. He will be eligible to return after the first four games of the regular season.

Optics aside, how bad is Shedeur in practice that he got beat out by Watson, who amazingly tore his Achilles, while he was rehabbing his…torn Achilles? He must be fucking stupid and makes mistake after mistake during drills or scrimmages or whatever. If they’re running mock scenarios or two minute drill, his reads must be garbage, or he’s taking inopportune sacks or throwing picks. It must be THAT bad to trot out Watson, who took a shit all over the fans, hasn’t played a down of football in 22 months, rehabbing (twice) arguably the most devastating injury for a speed player, and has played in what, 19 total games in five seasons as a Cleveland Brown?

As a diehard Browns fan, it’s hard for me to fully let go. It’s becoming easier and easier every year to not give a shit though, especially with Haslam as the owner. My son, however, is all in, and this is his first year of truly getting to watch and understand the game. He loves the Browns, therefore I’m his biggest fan and want to give him the experience of fandom, no matter how much the Browns toggle donkey balls in their mouth.
