QB Todd Boeckman (official thread)

TB may not be the best QB in the history of tOSU, but he will go down as a great teamate and contributor to an awful nice run by the Bucks and an awfully good record against scUM while he was here, he is a class act.

I am officially the hoarsest SweaterVest in all of Buckeye Nation. My voice finally gave out when Todd threw that touchdown pass, I was so happy for him I screamed my lungs out.

Todd, we the Buckeye faithful owe you so much, and we will always be proud of you, as will your Alma Mater.

Todd i respect you so much for not getting mad (at least not publicly) and causing a team problem. Thank you for a good career and not losing to scUM! You led the team to the NC game last year, not by accident. Helluva season last year, and you are a great example!

Wonderful day to set this down...
I'll attempt to avoid cliche's that run rampant. During the 2005 season spring game, my youngest son was able to get an autograph from Todd on his ticket during pre-game warm-ups! Since last season, he has waited for a Heisman bid for his favorite Buckeye... Throughout the season he had to watch a crushing loss followed by an emerging freshman star and the benching of his favorite Buckeye! (We live in Ga. and put up with Ga./SEC smack all year..) He was the first to point out Todd's demeanor & sideline support all year long! He also realized that TP was able to scramble out of situations that gave our Buckeyes a better chance to score. Watching TB captain from the side gave an illustration of what we expect from all of our adopted family: stoic class! Might I say a quality less present in media presentations today! I could not have been happier for my son as he watched TB's last TD pass in the 'Shoe.
I'm glad to have these memories...

The boeck-man chant sent shivers down my spine as it rained down from the shoe.

The best part?

It came before the td pass

A great senior day and final home game for a class act. Hats off to you, Todd.

My wife started to tear up when Todd entered the game. She actually shed a tear or ten right after the TD pass. She was immediately on the phone with our college age son and told him about Todd's TD pass (he already knew as he was after all watching the game also). My son is a dead ringer for Todd so much so that they could pass for brothers.
Congrats to Todd on how he handled adversity and disappointment this year. A lot of us folks, young and old alike could learn a thing or two from Mr. Boeckman.......

TAKING 1 FOR THE TEAM
Boeckman replaced at QB, but never complained

COLUMBUS - If it seemed like he had been around forever, that's because the Ohio football journey of Todd Boeckman spanned a full decade.

It began when he quarterbacked his St. Henry High School team to the Division V state championship game as a freshman back in the fall of 1999. It concluded yesterday with a backup appearance in the fourth quarter of Ohio State's 42-7 pounding of Michigan at Ohio Stadium.

In his swan song at the Horseshoe, Boeckman completed all three of his passes for 64 yards, including an 18-yard TD strike to Brian Hartline with 13:16 remaining to cap Ohio State's fifth straight win over UM.

The play drew a sizable ovation from the crowd of 105,564, a nice sendoff for Boeckman, who received a different response from impatient Buckeye supporters early this season.
