QB Todd Boeckman (official thread)

Departing seniors were asked about their experience at tOSU.

dispatch

Todd Boeckman
Quarterback

St. Henry, Ohio | Age: 24

Parting thought: "Outside of football, it is graduating -- that is an accomplishment that makes everything else worth it. You go to school for all those years and that is the pinnacle. I don't think I will ever forget that feeling. And I am so proud to be a graduate of Ohio State. That, along with my football experiences, is something I could not trade for anything."

I think this article pretty much nails it. I completely agree with this guy's reasoning as to why Todd was benched. Todd has handled the situation probably the best way anyone can. I'm proud that he's a Buckeye and I hope the situation presents itself on Saturday so he can take a few snaps to end his playing career the right way.

I don't get the whole "seniors get to play the first series" thing. Almost a slap in the face in my opinion.

I just have a feeling that Papa Boeckman may have some words after the season is over but we'll see.

Four straight pairs of gold pants....regardless of who starts, or who plays, Boeckman will go out a winner.

We still want more....

[fade in - two men standing around a bar in Small Town, USA]

Greg: Dad, there's some big city reporter been snooping around.

Charlie: Well, what's he want, son?

Greg: He's asking questions about Todd Boeckman. Thinks that he was "threw under the bus", whatever that means.

Charlie: Means that he was benched, son.

Greg: Oh.... Well, shouldn't he've been benched after that USC game?

Charlie: Yes, son, but that's beside the point. Todd's a local boy....

Greg: Oh, now I get it ... I think.

[momentary silence - both appear lost in thought]

Greg: Dad, if we rip on Coach Tressel, you think we'll get our names in the paper?

Charlie: Yep. Sure do.

Greg: Think they'll mention my restaurant and bar?

Charlie: Yep. And my grocery store, too.

Greg: Well, shucks! That's free advertising, pops!

Charlie: Sure is, son ... and in the big city paper, nonetheless.

Greg: And on the internets!

Charlie: Yep. On the internets, too....

[pause - look at each other]

In unison: COACH TRESSEL SUCKS!

[fade out]

[end of Act I, Scene 2]

Yeah, that's about how I figured it, too.

For some reason, Archdeacon used old ladies and bar owners as his sources for opinions about Jim Tressel and who he picks as QB.
Either don't know anything or have possible conflicting agendas.
Not his best effort by a mile, IMHO.

"Verifies" the St Henry opinions as fact by adding that Tressel was given the opportunity to respond and didn't. Another common modern "journalistic" tool.

For all the folks who want to give Todd credit for team accomplishments without objectively analyzing his performance and contribution to said accomplishments, then there is no point in arguing about it.

Simply put, TB is not the same QB he was against PSU '07 - and with the O line troubles, it was exacerbated to the point that JT was forced to put in a supremely talented but somewhat raw true freshman who has made a huge difference.
FWIW, TB was also never the level of QB the media started hyping him up to be through mid 2007 season. NOt fair to him, and some people's expectations became unrealistic or skewed.

Do you want the offense from the Ohio U game or the offense from the last few weeks?
