CBF40's Look at '10 recruiting

Howard will be a Buck if offered, and he will get an offer if he can pull his ACT up one point. Even though we have Rod Smith, I would still LOVE to have Howard.

All in all this is sizing up to be a pretty darn good class. And to think some were ready to hit the panic button a few short months ago...

Just a FYI, but I don't think that the ACT score is the issue, he has a qualifying score for OSU already. It is a grades issue. From what I understand he is close and doing very very well currently. If he keeps up the momentum he has created through his hard work, he will be part of the class.

I love it when kids turn it around. This could be a great story of a kid working to achive and making it happen. Always root for the kids.

Those 'in the know', think Joyner maybe close to being a Buck. Shaw, Byant, and Anderson I think are all in. Plus there is a solid chance Joyner could join them. I would LOVE to have this DB class, all can play S or CB. Gotta love the versatility of that group.

Are you allowed to elaborate at all on Joyner?

It is safe to say that it is a two horse race with a long way to go. The longer the process draws out, the less our chances are of having him commit to the good guys.

Pure unadulterated speculation, he knows what OSU offers and this weekend did nothing to change his POV. Just a question is he want to stay in State.

My question about Howard is this. I heard JT on an interview last week say that they would still like Hyde to be a part of the team, so how would this affect the recruitment of Howard? Because with Berry and Hall being brought in last year, and potentially Smith, Hyde being brought in this year, with Howard that would make 5 RB's in the last 2 classes. Doesnt that seem like it could be alot? Just curious on other peoples thoughts on this.

IMO that is JT not wanting to turn his back on one of his kids. I don't think Hyde will ever step foot on OSU's campus as a student athlete.

JT would like to have Hyde, but it's up to Hyde. And right now Hyde hasn't been taking his responsibilities very seriously.

The class I have listed puts us at 23. Dont' think we would be able to land that many in this class, but if all these guys want to come here, not sure who we say not to.

We are sitting on 17 spots right now. See Gibson leaving early. That puts us at 18. Not sure after that as of right now.

Hankins and Howard still have work to do academically. THey are the only 2 on this list with offers. Will the staff be content with the RB's they have already or will they add Howard if he makes grades?

Would they have one or both of the kickers greyshirt?

At this point I just don't see Henderson and Joyner coming here. Call it me being negative, but they are the big time recruits that we have very good shots at, but in the end FSU scares me for Joyner and Minny/USC for Henderson.

And Shaw will always concern me, till he committs. He is a Cali kid with an offer from USC...

And Louis as well till he signs...

I'm beginning to think that 23 isn't unreasonable as we will likely have more early depatures than originally thought.

No rumors and nothing bad. There are juniors that are playing well enough to get paid serious $$$.

:io:

I was thinking the same thing but today Worthington said (true or not):

"They're great athletes and great guys. Just playing with those guys brings up your level of intensity and level of play in practice. So I definitely think they can but i know both of them want to stay here, graduate and be senior captains of next season."

Thats easy to say in the middle of a season, but when those agents start showing up and providing actual figures, and you see your name on Mel Kiper's draft board, its a different story! Just a thought, his quote is nice and all, but unrealistic right now. Not every kid cares about winning a NC and being a senior captain like we think.

I thought that Tress & Co would put some of the more 'eligible' juniors into the Pro Scouts rating system and see where they might be in the draft pecking order.....and if they are in the first round (or second?) then they should declare.....

Clearly, having a top junior stay is better than having an unproven freshman-to-be, but sometimes you've got to go for the green.

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: PS, it also seems like these junors are learning the 'right' things to say, which shows that they are gaining in maturity.

Who would leave early?

Gibson? - He could go for sure.
Chekwa? - Good solid player...Don't see him leaving early tho...
Heyward? - Undersized to play inside at the next level right now...Not quick enough to play outside. Give him another year and he should have the size.

Anyone else?
Boren? - Lineman don't ususally leave early.
