CBF40's Look at '10 recruiting

Heyward? - Undersized to play inside at the next level right now...Not quick enough to play outside. Give him another year and he should have the size.

Totally disagree. Cam would be a monster as 5 technique 3-4 end. He doesn't have to play inside in the NFL. Cam is also plenty quick enough to play strong end in the 4-3. Could be a first rounder for either defense. Think Tyson Jackson who got drafted from LSU by the Chiefs last year. And no, I don't want this. I think he might be the most irreplaceable player on D. He's a monster.

Who would leave early?

Gibson? - He could go for sure.
Chekwa? - Good solid player...Don't see him leaving early tho...

Anyone else?
Boren? - Lineman don't ususally leave early.

Cam Heyward is an ideal 3-4 DE.....pretty sure he'll be a first rounder whenever he declares....

Yes, at least one in this group probably leaves.

Shaw, we were the leader now we aren't
Joyner (that's what is what was just said today on here, although I don't know if I believe it. We'll have to wait and see)
Hicks
Louis is supposedly wavering
Hagan is also supposedly looking around

Joyner (that's what is what was just said today on here, although I don't know if I believe it. We'll have to wait and see)- With FSU's decline, I think were in the driver's seat
Hicks- Were we ever the leader. Itll come down to UF, UT, and OSU.
Louis is supposedly wavering- Many will believe he commits when the inks dry.
Hagan is also supposedly looking around- Maybe the staff told him to.

relax

We know this following recruiting that it is never over till the ink drys...

Justin Greene, switched even after being a committ...

We are in the game with some very good players...any talk about leaders, best guesses, etc is just that at this point.

Out of those guys you listed...

Shaw has been playing games the entire time...I have always kinda thought that he could end up wherever Riley ends up or USC. There has been talk about us being the favorite...Just see how it plays out.

Joyner is a FSU/tOSU battle. It always has been...I like our chances...

Hicks - has always been a Texas/UF/tOSU battle. There have been solid rumors pointing to all...The unofficial/offical to Florida kinda worries me...but if there is one position we can afford to lose an in-state 5 star palyer it would be LB.

Louis - He had not even visited before committing...everyone said believe it when he signs the fax...

Hagan - There have been rumors...We shall see...

But to be in the game for guys like Joyner, Shaw, Henderson, Hicks, Bryant, Joyner, etc is what you ask for...and just a little tip, don't hang on everything in the recruiting articles, these kids understand how to play the game...

Updated guesses for how this class ends up? Mostly I'm curious to see who all thinks we land guys like Floyd, Henderson, Joyner and Hicks. My list would be:
QB: Taylor Graham
RB: Roderick Smith
RB/WR: Corey Brown
WR: James Louis
WR: Tyrone Williams
OL: Andrew Norwell
OL: Seantrel Henderson
OL: Matt James
DE: Darryl Baldwin
DE: J.T. Moore
DE: David Durham
LB: Scott McVey
LB: Jamel Turner
LB: Chad Hagan
DB: Christian Bryant
DB: Latwan Anderson
DB: LaMarcus Joyner
K: Drew Basil

- That's 18 commits and I just don't see the number hitting above 20. I see us missing on Hicks (either Florida or Texas), Floyd (Florida or elsewhere), Shaw (USC and Florida have been coming on strong), Hankins (grades), and Cullen Christian (scUM or WVU). We have a legit shot at Hicks, Floyd and Shaw but my gut says they head elsewhere. My only real concern with this class is (yet again) DT. We now have all our eggs in the Sharrif Floyd basket. If we miss, we have already missed on Tomlinson and Hankins isn't making it in likely. With Mobley transfering, we will have only three DT's in the '08, '09 and '10 classes combined if we miss on Floyd. Originally it looked promising with Mobley, Goebel, Rowell, Simon and Bellamy. With Rowell and Mobley out of the picture, not so much so now. Add to the fact that Jibreel Black and Terry Talbot are already off the board, I just don't see anything past Hankins and Floyd. I was timid to put Henderson on the list, as USC will look attractive come NLOID, but I just think we are in a really strong position with him. The James front has been fairly quiet but with coaching uncertainty at ND and UC, I think he ends up in Columbus.

It's crazy that we are in on five 5-stars (rivals) and we could easily sign zero or five of them. Six if you consider #23 has ended up a 5-star by the end for the last eight years. I don't know if I would consider any of them better than 75% chance of being a buckeye or below 25% chance.

#1 -- Henderson
#8 -- Floyd
#12 -- Hicks
#14 -- Joyner
#18 -- Anderson
#23 -- Shaw

The down side of recruiting all of these highly rated guys is they can wait as long as they want. Although at least a few of them have already said they don't plan on waiting until signing day to decide.

I want to say all 6...

But I could make a solid case why each one won't end up here...

The best thing is we are in the game for all of them...Lets hope the chips fall the right way...
