CBF40's Look at '10 recruiting

I don't think a m*ch*g*n fan should be bringing up "questionable" offers. Just my two cents...

Touche.

But I don't get the Hankins offer, when...

A) You have Sharif Floyd sitting without an offer, saying he would've likely taken an OV to C-Bus had he gotten an offer, but since he hasn't heard from OSU he officially dropped them.

B) You have a better option in your backyard that would've given up his right arm to play for OSU.

Kids say a lot of things, particularly to recruiting sites. That doesn't mean they're as interested as they claim. Sam McGuffie really wanted an OSU offer too, according to recruiting interviews. He wasn't coming to columbus even if they offered in junior high.

Two things:

- Floyd is a longshot at best.

- There are those "in the know" that don't believe Hankins has a commitable offer right now.

I've been on record saying that I'm not crazy about the purported Hankins offer, but I defer to the staff. There have been a large number of these kind of offers that have turned out quite well for us. Yes, some haven't worked out, but it seems like more of them have.

Yeah, he's massive and anybody that size is gonna turn heads, but that's a lot of question marks.

Exactly...in a class with possibly low numbers, I'm not so sure we are going to take many gambles. I love Hankins potential but I wish we could have at least stayed on Talbot until we figured out the Floyd deal. If Hankins can take care of grades and shows a better motor senior year, I am all for an offer. If it's questionable, I say pass...and this is coming from the guy who preaches DT recruiting.

The class I have listed puts us at 23. Dont' think we would be able to land that many in this class, but if all these guys want to come here, not sure who we say not to.

We are sitting on 17 spots right now. See Gibson leaving early. That puts us at 18. Not sure after that as of right now.

Hankins and Howard still have work to do academically. THey are the only 2 on this list with offers. Will the staff be content with the RB's they have already or will they add Howard if he makes grades?

Would they have one or both of the kickers greyshirt?

At this point I just don't see Henderson and Joyner coming here. Call it me being negative, but they are the big time recruits that we have very good shots at, but in the end FSU scares me for Joyner and Minny/USC for Henderson.

And Shaw will always concern me, till he committs. He is a Cali kid with an offer from USC...

And Louis as well till he signs...

I am not a recruting expert/talent evalulator to any extent, but here are my thoughts.

Howard commits if offered, IMO. But we'll see what happens there. He is definetly workin' his tail off for the offer.

tOSU has to take at least one more O-Lineman in this class. I think with good shots at Henderson and James, we land one of them. Also I think we will see a late offer to Schofner or a different linemen who has a huge senior year, or does something to draw his attention to the staff.

I think the staff is pretty content with what they have so far at D-line. The recruting here is definetly in for a twist. Turner is still up in the air, but I hope he remains in this class. He is a superb talent. Also, Hankins is having one of the strangest recruitment I have ever seen. Who know what happens there.

With the LB's I'm gonna say that we land Hicks. Serious ground has been gained on Texas, and I think the home staters pull this one out.

The Bucks look really good for DB's so far, with a near lock in Bryant, and very good shots at Joyner and Shaw. I'm not sure about Anderson has he just received an offer, but he is a Glenville kid and had OSU in his most recent top 5. I will say that we land two and possibly three of these excellent defensive backs.

Well, that's all I got to say 'bout that. (In my best Forest Gump voice.) :tongue2:

Wow. I think I'd cry tears of joy with a class like that.

I'd put any single haul of those WRs, O-Linemen, LBs, DBs, and/or Special Teamers against anyone in the nation.

Even if we didn't score Henderson and Joyner (big-timers leaning elsewhere) & Howard and Hankins (academics), that would be an outstanding class.

It's sick to think we already have verbals from all 3 of those WRs. I think those guys compliament each other perfectly. And I pray that DB class materializes.

Howard will be a Buck if offered, and he will get an offer if he can pull his ACT up one point. Even though we have Rod Smith, I would still LOVE to have Howard.

I think we add one of Henderson or James. Neither is close to a lock, but I like where we stand with both. If both want in you can't say no.

I think Hankins has a LONG way to go when it come's to his SAT score...

Those 'in the know', think Joyner maybe close to being a Buck. Shaw, Byant, and Anderson I think are all in. Plus there is a solid chance Joyner could join them. I would LOVE to have this DB class, all can play S or CB. Gotta love the versatility of that group.

All in all this is sizing up to be a pretty darn good class. And to think some were ready to hit the panic button a few short months ago...
