Apple will now be locking down receivers at the pro level.

The New York Giants decided to bolster their defense in selecting former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple with the No. 10 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Apple had been mocked in a number of different slots, but ultimately landed with the Giants. Apple should bring immediate help, and his selection only helps Ohio State's case as Defensive Back U.

Apple was one of the first non-senior players to enter the draft when the Buckeyes' season concluded. He really came on strong as a redshirt freshman in 2014, and was a key piece in helping the Buckeyes secure the 2014 College Football Playoff National Championship against the Oregon Ducks. He was named a freshman All-American by both Athlon and Scout.com for his efforts. In 2015, Apple was still a key piece in an Ohio State defense that was stacked with players of pro talent.

The 6'1 corner came in at 199 pounds at the NFL Combine, with an impressive 4.4 official 40-yard dash time. He possesses the speed he needs at the next level, something that scout put a lot of weight into when evaluating defensive backs at the pro level. That, combined with his knowledge of the game makes him a steal for the [TEAM].

Apple has all the tools to become an elite defensive back in the NFL if he reaches his full potential. He couldn't be entering the league at a better time, with good cornerback play seemingly being valued as high as ever, with the league being more and more pass-friendly. Surely the [TEAM] will enjoy having Apple as a part of their defensive unit.

Get ready Dallas, here comes Zeke.

The Dallas Cowboys chose to skip over one of the draft's top prospects in Florida State's Jalen Ramsey to select Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott with the 4th overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday night. Despite the presence of Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris on the roster, Jerry Jones couldn't pass up Elliott's talent.

The Cowboys are known throughout the league for having an outstanding offensive line, and the idea of putting Elliott behind their nearly insurmountable wall should be a terrifying thought for the rest of the NFC East.

Cowboys fans, for their part, were justifiably excited about their team's newest skill player.

After a two-year run of dominance with the Buckeyes, look for 'Zeke' to contribute right away in the NFL.

In a surprise to no one, Ezekiel Elliott was the first running back taken off the board in the 2016 NFL Draft, with the Dallas Cowboys selecting the Ohio State junior with the fourth overall selection in Thursday night's first round.

The 6'0, 225-pound Elliott became a star during the Buckeyes' march to the 2014 national championship, racking up 696 rushing yards and eight touchdowns while averaging over nine yards per tote in Ohio State's victories over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game, Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, and Oregon in the inaugural College Football Playoff title game. In 2015, Elliott gained 1,821 yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground as the linchpin of Urban Meyer's offensive attack, and he finished his career second on the Buckeyes' career rushing list, just one notch below two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin.

In the pre-draft process, Elliott quickly emerged as the top available ball carrier, and the St. Louis native solidified that sentiment with strong performances at the NFL Combine (which featured Elliott running a 4.47 40-yard dash) and at Ohio State's pro day (where Elliott flashed his pass catching prowess).

And if Elliott's well-regarded running talents weren't enough, Mr. Crop Top also drew high marks during his career and in the draft evaluation process for his voracious instincts as a blocker. (Just ask Virginia Tech's Deon Clarke or Notre Dame's Sheldon Day.) Elliott's impact in the NFL should be felt immediately, and his profile as a three-down back could keep him on the field in clear passing downs as a rookie. As with any running back who was the bell cow for their college program, durability is a slight concern with Elliott, who logged 653 total touches as a rusher, receiver, and returner during his career in Columbus.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ is now the NFL's problem.

After a storied college career at Ohio State, Joey Bosa's wait to join the professional ranks was brief during Thursday night's first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, as the San Diego Chargers selected the junior defensive end with the No. 3 overall pick.

During his final season with the Buckeyes, Bosa notched 16 tackles for loss for a defense that finished second in the nation in scoring defense, fourth in opponents' plays of 20 yards or more, and seventh in defensive S&P+ (adjusted scoring average). For his career, Bosa started 37 of 41 games, registered more tackles for loss than any other college player from 2013-15, and finished in the top five all-time at Ohio State in sacks, sack yardage, tackles for loss, and tackles for loss yardage.

Bosa, a consensus two-time All-American and the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year in 2014, becomes the first Buckeyes' defensive lineman to be selected in the first round since Cameron Heyward was picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 31st pick in the 2011 draft. The 6'5, 269-pound Bosa performed well in the NFL Combine's agility drills, finishing tied for first among defensive linemen in the 20-yard shuttle run and tallying a second-place finish in the 3 cone drill. Bosa drew acclaim for his overall strength, his active hands as a rusher (he forced five fumbles in college), and versatility to shuffle seamlessly between an effective run defender and a problematic pass rusher.

The J.J. Watt comparisons are lazy and unfair, but prudence suggests Bosa -- whose father, John, was taken 16th overall by the Miami Dolphins in 1987 -- will be able to contribute (and perhaps start) from Day 1 in the NFL. Bosa may never be a Defensive Player of the Year, an All-Pro, or even Pro Bowler, but his talent for disruption and adaptable game should pave the way for a long and fruitful NFL career.

Hero in a half-shirt.

Ezekiel Elliott's never been one to shy away from eyeballs.

Following having his junior season sartorial parade rained on by the NCAA, which banned his signature exposed midriff just after he led Ohio State to a national title with his core exposed, Zeke is glad to be liberated from Mark Emmert and co. and didn't hesitate to get back to who he was on the NFL Draft's red carpet.

While those two are the obvious choices, more Buckeyes could join the fold.

"Elflein could've chosen to play on Sundays this fall instead of Saturdays. But the Buckeyes couldn't be happier he decided to stick around."

- Josh Moyer, ESPN.com

In aa recent mock draft from ESPN's NFL Nation, the Big Ten was projected to have seven players taken in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Since it's never too early to look ahead to the future, ESPN's Big Ten blog took a look a seven players from the Big Ten that could possibly be taken in the first round...of the 2017 NFL Draft. Even though Ohio State lost plenty of talent that'll likely be taken in this year's draft, there are still a couple names that are being projected to be taken early in next year's NFL Draft. The first of those names is returning offensive lineman Pat Elflein. The center is the lone returning starter heading into this season on Ohio State's offensive line, and will likely be in the mix for the Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year award in the Big Ten.

The other Buckeye mentioned in this list was linebacker Raekwon McMillan. After he racked up 119 tackles and was one of five finalists for the Butkus Award, it should be no surprise that McMillan is high on the list of possible first round choices from the Big Ten following next year. After having to share the spotlight with Darron Lee and Joshua Perry the last few years, McMillan will finally get to become the leader of the linebackers this season. So far McMillan has matched the hype after coming to Ohio State as a five-star recruit, now it wouldn't be any shock to see him surpass it with a huge year this season.

"We broke the record for being the most successful senior class in college football history (with 50 wins) and now we have chance of breaking the record of having the most first-rounders and the most people drafted in one year. To continue to be a part of history like that is pretty special."

- Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer via Bill Rabinowitz, The Columbus Dispatch

Tonight is the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft in Chicago, and if there is one thing that should be a given among all the unpredictability of who gets taken where, it is that at least four Ohio State players should hear their name called tonight. Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Taylor Decker, and Darron Lee are all projected to be taken over the course of the first round tonight. There are indications that cornerback Eli Apple could also here his name called, and it's not out of the realm of possibilities that Vonn Bell or another Buckeye could also be chosen. If Ohio State does see five players taken in the first round tonight, it would match 2006 when they also had five players taken in the first round. The overall record for most players taken in the first round was set by Miami in 2004 when they had six players taken.

While Ohio State is expected to put on a first round blitz this year, there are still plenty of Buckeyes who will be taken on Friday or Saturday as well. If Bell isn't taken he'll lead the charge of Buckeyes taken on Friday, which could also include Michael Thomas, Braxton Miller, Adolphus Washington, and Cardale Jones. By the time the NFL Draft wraps up on Saturday, Ohio State could have 13 or 14 players taken over the seven round event. If the Buckeyes are able to see 14 players drafted, they'll not only match 2004 when they had 14 players taken, but Miami also had that many during that draft.

"Austin Mack is going to play this year. I know it's early to say that and I have a tendency to over-evaluate guys when I get excited about them, but he's doing fantastic."

- Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer via Austin Ward, ESPN.com

It has been nearly two weeks since Ohio State's spring practices have wrapped up, and ESPN has been taking a look at the play who had a breakout spring for each of the Big Ten teams. Ohio State's breakout player over the 15 practices the Buckeyes were allotted was freshman wide receiver Austin Mack. Head coach Urban Meyer has been singing the praises of the early enrollee so far, and became the first freshman during Meyer's time at Ohio State to have his black stripe removed by the coaching staff during spring practices.

Mack making such an impact so early for Ohio State is something the Buckeyes desperately need given their uncertainty at wide receiver. With Michael Thomas and Jalin Marshall declaring early for the NFL Draft, along with the graduation of Braxton Miller, there is plenty of turnover at wide receiver this year. The Buckeyes will get Corey Smith and Noah Brown back from the injuries they suffered last year, but after that there is plenty of underclassmen jockeying for position on the depth chart. With Mack impressing the coaching staff early in his time at Ohio State, it's likely he'll avoid being redshirt this year and could possibly be in line for some big contributions on the field in 2016.

"I don't think there's too many people that would say, 'No, I wouldn't want to be the head coach at Ohio State.' But my job is to help Thad Matta and to get better in every facet of the college game. I'm here to get better and I'm here also to help the program succeed as it has in the past."

- Ohio State assistant coach Chris Jent via Adam Jardy, The Columbus Dispatch

Since Ohio State's basketball season has ended there hasn't been a whole lot of good news, with a number of players announcing their intentions to transfer from the program. Players weren't the only ones leaving earlier, as Jeff Boals accept the head coaching position at Stony Brook in early April. On April 21st the Buckeyes finally got some good news, when it was announced former assistant coach would be returning to Thad Matta's coaching staff. Not only did Jent play for the Buckeyes from 1988-1992 but he was also an assistant coach with Ohio State from 2011-2013. Following his two years as an assistant at Ohio State, Jent went on to spend three seasons as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings, followed by coaching the Bakersfield Jam in the NBDL last season.

Yesterday was Jent's first news conference since being officially hired, and he said down the road he would like to be the head coach at Ohio State. Not that there isn't plenty of people who would love to have that job, though. Not that Thad Matta's job is in danger right now, but some see this as Ohio State setting the table for Jent to be Matta's successor. For now Jent will likely be adding his wisdom to an Ohio State offense that has struggled over the past few years. While Jent will be serving on Matta's staff, and hopefully stating his case to take over for the head coach down the road, his main goal is to help the Buckeye basketball program return to prominence and help Ohio State add to their championship banners.

The most controversial topic in college football’s offseason took a turn today as the NCAA Board of Governors voted to rescind the recent ban on satellite camps. [ MORE: Everything you need to know about satellite camps ] Satellite camps are essentially high school football camps held off an institution’s campus. NCAA overturns ban on satellite camps

The NCAA board of directors has overturned the ban on holding camps away from school, commonly called satellite camps.

In a statement Thursday, the board stressed that it wants the Division I council, which enacted the ban earlier this month, to conduct a thorough review of the entire FBS recruiting process. The council reports to the board of directors and oversees a number of NCAA legislative committees.

Michigan's Jim Harbaugh conducting spring camp in Florida crystallized the debate over satellite camps.

"It's clear that the membership has differing views on this subject, and the Council appreciates the Board's insights into this important issue," said council chair Jim Phillips, Northwestern's athletic director. "This review will provide an opportunity to identify the most effective ways prospective student-athletes can have their academic and athletic credentials evaluated by schools across the country."

See what the future may hold for the massive 2016 Ohio State draft class.

The 2016 Ohio State draft class is special and potentially record-breaking. Filled with possible top-five selections, first round picks and highly conveyed depth players, this class will rival the special Miami draft classes of the early 2000s and could be one of the greatest draft crops of all-time.

There are hundreds of mock drafts out on the internet for the 2016 NFL Draft. But where is the 2016 Ohio State draft class going to be selected? This mock is broken down into where the player should go; based on skill set, draft position, and team need. The second part are other realistic fits, based on team need.

Joey Bosa

Where he should go: Dallas Cowboys, first round, No. 4.

Other fits: Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers

Once a lock to be a top-three pick, Bosa has been slipping and no one is quite sure why. The tape does not lie with Bosa, as he is extremely consistent and is consistently the best player on the field. Bosa is a 4-3 left end who has the ability and size to kick inside for pass rushing situations. The Buckeyes lined him up inside, outside and stood him up at times. He has a high motor and possesses excellent technique.

If Jerry Jones wants the best player available and the player in which would make the greatest impact, Bosa is the fit at pick No. 4. With Greg Hardy long gone, Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory suspended, Bosa will be a day one cornerstone piece who will not give back his starting spot. If Jerry Jones decides to go flashy with Ezekiel Elliott or Jalen Ramsey, then Bosa will fall to the Jaguars, Ravens or possibly even the 49ers. But with the Cowboys and Jerry Jones, you never know what they are going to do.

Ezekiel Elliott

Where he should go: Chicago Bears, first round, No. 11.

Other fits: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders

Ezekiel Elliott has the potential to be the best player in the draft. Not only does he have natural running ability, but coaches will love his ability to pass protect and his excellent football IQ. Elliott can step onto a NFL field right now and be one of the more complete backs in the league. He does it all.

It started with the Eagles before they traded up, then whispers about the Cowboys at four and more recently the Dolphins at No. 13. Then just days before the draft, Elliott proclaimed that the Bears' "love" him and that he would like to play for them. It seems like a perfect match because it is, as Elliott would be reunited with his former running backs coach at Ohio State, Stan Drayton, who has the same job title in Chicago and they just lost Matt Forte in free agency. But, this could also be a smoke screen by the Bears in an effort to get the Dolphins to trade up and get their future number one back (if the Cowboys pass on him).

Eli Apple

Where he should go: Miami Dolphins, first round, No. 13.

Other fits: Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks

Eli Apple took a huge jump from his freshman to sophomore seasons and is now a top-three cornerback prospect. His length, his ability to play man-coverage and his 4.39 40-yard dash have made him fly up draft boards. Apple has long arms and uses them well in press-coverage, which has been more prevalent in the NFL.

In a passing league, players like Apple are conveyed. He was pegged for Pittsburgh and Kansas City, but more recently, Miami has been connected to the two-year starter. The Dolphins have lacked size and physicality in the defensive backfield and they would welcome a player with Apple's skill set. He would also fit with teams who are begging for a physical, consistent cornerback; such as the Raiders, Steelers and Chiefs. Keep an eye on Kansas City if he falls.

Taylor Decker

Where he should go: Detroit Lions, first round, No. 16.

Other fits: Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans

It has been a Big Ten battle between Decker and Michigan State's Jack Conklin to be the third tackle selected behind Laremy Tunsil and Ronnie Staley. Standing at 6'7, Decker has great length and the ability to play both right and left tackle. He plays with a nastiness and has been a constant on Ohio State's dominant offensive line for three seasons.

After allowing Matthew Stafford to be sacked 44 times last season, the Lions need some stability on the offensive line. Decker could be a plug-and-play right tackle or possibly kick inside to guard. With the Lions being led by former Patriots' Director of Pro Scouting, Bob Quinn, he knows building from the inside-out is the key to success. Decker would bring toughness and stability to a poor offensive line. If the Lions decide to go with Conklin or a defensive lineman, Decker could land in Indianapolis or Buffalo.

Darron Lee

Where he should go: Atlanta Falcons, first round, No. 17.

Other fits: Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos and New York Jets

Darron Lee can do it all as a Will linebacker and is athletic enough to play in the Deone Bucannon/Pat Chung role of a safety/linebacker hybrid, who plays in the box. Lee can walk-out to the slot and cover tight ends, running backs and some receivers, while also being able to hold his own against the run. He also has a natural ability to rush the passer.

Lee will fit best in Atlanta as a Will linebacker and a stud in their nickle defense. He can match-up against backs and tight ends, with the skill set to come off the edge. The Falcons need a playmaking linebacker and Lee fits all of the criteria. Lee can fit almost anywhere, and he would be an asset for Rex Ryan, Todd Bowles or as Danny Trevathan's replacement in Denver.

Vonn Bell

Where he should go: Tennessee Titans, second round, No. 33.

Other fits: Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans

One could argue that Vonn Bell's commitment on National Signing Day marked the beginning of the Urban Meyer's recruiting impact at Ohio State. Bell, a five-star safety from SEC country, surprisingly signed and made his first impact play as a true freshman, picking off Clemson's Tajh Boyd in the Orange Bowl. He improved his following two seasons and became a true ballhawk in the secondary. Bell played more strong safety at Ohio State, but due to his range, he looks like a prototypical free safety in the NFL.

The Tennessee Titans released Michael Griffin and now have holes at both safety positions. They did sign former Arizona Cardinals' free safety Rashad Johnson; however, it was just a one-year deal and Bell would be able to challenge at either safety position. In today's pass-happy NFL, Bell would fit with any team who has a free safety vacancy.

Michael Thomas

Where he should go: New Orleans Saints, second round, No. 42.

Other fits: Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons

Michael Thomas' numbers do not stack up with the other top wideouts, but it was what he did with his chances that makes him a special prospect. Thomas was once just a spring game all-star, then he turned into an excellent route runner, equipped with soft hands. The spokesperson of #Zone6 will bring confidence, route running and the ability to make plays in traffic as a number two or three receiver to the NFL.

The Saints once had an embarrassment of riches, but now outside of Brandin Cooks, they have no true number two option. Thomas would be able to come to New Orleans right away and fight against the likes of Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman for a starting job. He would benefit from playing with one of the top quarterbacks in the league and his ability to gain separation would turn him into one of Drew Brees' favorite targets. There are numerous teams with holes on the outside, including the Bengals, Browns, Texans, Vikings and Falcons, where Thomas would have a chance to be the number two or three guy.
