Week 2 Games Discussion

Which makes me ask the question, aren’t they coaching “heads up” tacking? I saw at three possible targeting on Ohio State d-backs, all made with head down helmet on helmet hits plus the one that was called on Burke.
The problem it is hard to tackle a RB who tries to spear you with a helmet with a heads up tackle you either go the legs from behind or the side which brings the head down or you take a helmet to the collarbone and catch him giving up yardage in the process. The old across the bow form of tackling I was taught as a kid doesn't work there.

Unfazed By Competition, Joe McGuire Worked to “Always Be Ready” for Opportunity to Punt at Ohio State

Joe McGuire wasn’t bothered when Ohio State brought in two new players to compete for the Buckeyes’ starting punter job this offseason.

When Jesse Mirco transferred to Vanderbilt for his final season of college football, McGuire initially looked like the clear choice to succeed Mirco as punter. As the only returning punter on Ohio State’s roster from last season, McGuire’s only competition for the punting job when spring began came from fellow walk-ons Hadi Jawad and Austin Snyder, neither of whom was viewed as a serious contender.

Ohio State held a three-way competition for the punting job in preseason camp, however, after signing Nick McLarty as a scholarship player and adding Anthony Venneri, the starting punter at Buffalo for the last two years, as a walk-on through the transfer portal. McGuire understood the decision to bring them in and approached the competition as an opportunity to get better.

“I was the only punter here at the time, really, so I was expecting it,” McGuire said. “And if that's what they think makes the team better, then great. Because at the end of the day, we just want to win. And if that's what they want to give us the best chance to win, then so be it. As they say here, iron sharpens iron. So having good competition is good for all three of us, I think.”

Going into the Buckeyes’ first game week of the season, it appeared as though McGuire had lost the punting job to McLarty, who was named Ohio State’s starting punter by Ryan Day just nine days before the season opener. But after McGuire had what Day described as a “much better week of practice” than McLarty leading up to last week’s season opener against Akron, Day called an audible and told McGuire that he would be the Buckeyes’ starting punter instead.

McGuire never stopped preparing for the possibility that he would be called upon to punt in the first game or any game, so it didn’t take him long to refocus himself on being the starter.

“I was pretty excited,” McGuire said Wednesday when asked how he reacted when he received the news from Day. “I mean, I've been training pretty hard so that no matter when my number's called, I'm ready. You never know what could happen in a game. So I work to always be ready for the occasion. So yeah, I was excited initially, and then I just sort of thought, ‘All right, I got to get myself ready and perform.’”

Damar Hamlin (DB Buffalo Bills)

Buffalo Bills' Damar Hamlin to make first start since cardiac arrest in 2023

The safety appeared in three preseason games and five regular games last season.

Bills safety Damar Hamlin will start for the team in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo announced Wednesday.

It will be his first start since suffering a cardiac arrest on the field in January 2023.

“What else can’t this young man do? He basically went through what he went through on the field, you guys have written about that over and over, and to come back from that,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday. “It’s one thing to come back off of an ACL or a broken bone. It’s another thing to come back off of what he came back off of, right? Let alone just to decide to play football and contact football in full pads at the NFL level. I don’t think I need to say anything more. It’s incredible.”

How Long Have You Been Married

Wifey and I hit 35 years in July 2024. Can't hold a candle to the above folk, but there it is. got a late start, as my first marriage lasted all of 18 months, and it took me 15 years to get over that first experience. I give most of the credit to my wife, as I'm not the easiest person to live with. Anyway, congrats to all of us, as it seems like the "till death do us part" seems to have been morphed into "till I get tired of it" or somesuch. PS, nowhere in our vows does it say anything about Yard Sales.....

Katy Perry reveals Orlando Bloom’s X-rated reward for completing chores

Orlando Bloom proposed to Katy Perry in 2019 after a brief split

Katy Perry revealed her racy reaction to Orlando Bloom doing chores around the house.

Perry opened up about her relationship with "The Lord of the Rings" star in an episode of "Call Her Daddy." The "American Idol" judge and Bloom first began dating in 2016 before splitting after a year. The two jumped back into a relationship in 2018 and got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019.

In the new interview, Perry noted a red flag within a relationship would be a partner who doesn't help out.

For Bloom's part, the actor and Perry attended "lots of couple's therapy" because they want to "evolve." "I think why we're in our relationship is to become better humans so that we can raise this beautiful human being," Perry said of their three-year-old daughter Daisy.

"One of my love languages is acts of service," Perry admitted. "So, it's like if I come downstairs and the kitchen is clean, and you've done it all — you've done all the dishes, and you've closed all the pantry doors — you better be ready to get your d--- sucked."

"Like literally. That is my love language," she added. "I don't need a red Ferrari. I can buy a red Ferrari. Just do the f---ing dishes!"

Week 1 Games Discussion

Weirdest things that happened in week 1:

Louisiana Tech lost the turnover battle by 5

and won 25-17

East Carolina lost the turnover battle by 4

and won 42-3

That fact alone tells you that yes... they were playing FCS schools (Nicholls State and Norfolk State), but that is still incredible

And testifies even more than the 70-burgers posted by bigger schools that games against FCS schools need to stop

And oh by the way... One of those 70-burgers was Auburns "win" over Alabama A&M

Auburn lost the turnover battle by 2 and won 73-3
