Former Ohio State football player could face more than 40 years in prison following guilty plea to serious charges

Ex-Buckeye Marcus Williamson is facing up to more than 40 years in prison and will be sentenced on June 25.

A former Ohio State Buckeye who spent five seasons with the program is facing possible prison time after pleading guilty to nine counts of robbery on Monday morning.

Former Buckeyes S Marcus Williamson pleaded guilty to nine counts of robbery in a Franklin County court on March 23, with five of them being second-degree felonies, and the rest being third-degree felonies, according to The Columbus Dispatch.



Williamson was originally charged with 17 counts of robbery, six counts of felony theft, and one count of misdemeanor theft from bank robberies that happened in March and April of 2024 around the Columbus area.

Marcus Williamson is facing up to more than 40 years in prison

The 27-year-old Williamson will be sentenced by Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Sheryl Munson on June 25. Sentencing options range from possible probation to more than 40 years in prison for the Westerville, Ohio native.

According to The Dispatch, court records say Williamson would give a note to bank tellers around the Columbus area saying he had a gun while demanding in writing money in dominations in $20, $50, and $100 bills. While Williamson didn’t make away from every bank with cash, he did get about $22,000 in total.

Police arrested Williamson back on April 24 leaving First Merchant’s Bank on N High St.
