Cincinnati Reds (2025 is our year! Haha thats actually funny)

Who had Lowder as the first injury of the year?

Not official yet but the usual "elbow soreness" comments before 9 months of set backs and then surgery.

Forget I ever said anything positive whatsoever. This franchise is fucking cursed.
I did and after Krem Reaper gets done with him, it’s sayonara.

Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

This is my typical breakfast burrito that I eat on my days off

Grate a Yukon gold with about half an onion, squeeze out as much water as you can with some paper towels, add seasoning, chopped seranos and two eggs

I'd taken another picture of the bacon and carne picada cooking but it didn't turn out, here is the potatose mixture being added to the mix, I usually let it brown good on one side for about 3-5 minutes and scramble it into a desmadre and cover for about 5 minutes on low to make sure the potatoes cook thoroughly

Then to the plate where pico de gallo is added and then rolled into a burrito

More impressive tOSU true freshman performance leading to a national title?

MoC elevated them from Iowa to National Champions.

JJ elevated a loaded team to heights that they struggled to reach mentally. No one would confuse that team with Iowa, but they could score points like Iowa when JJ was not involved.
Yeah, but 2002 Iowa was good enough to be #3 in the country before the bowl games. :sneaky:

And that of course was a year where Ferentz won COY over a Buckeye coach, both in the Big Ten and the national AP award.

QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse, Philadelphia Eagles)

Howard's legs and toughness blow McCord out of the water. Not even a good comparison imo.

McCord's absolute void of mobility, along with his inability (or unwillingness possibly) to pull the trigger on open routes down field were ultimately the differences to me. Too safe, and too many points left of the field.

Will doesn't have a particularly strong arm by any means but he was willing to let it fly down field and give his guys a shot. As he did it more, he got much more accurate.

Certainly agree on the intangibles as well.

Happy for Kyle, good to see him succeed, but he left too many points out on the field at OSU.

I do recall feeling that MoC was just different when he was the current player. His vision, stop/start, power and speed were absolutely different than any other RB at the time but then again, there were some badass RB's back then and they meant something different in the NFL.
The way I've described him to younger fans is that he was Zeke before Zeke. Not quite as fast, but a bit more powerful.

So tomorrow then?

I actually think they will be better than last place this year.

If they get better luck with health and development (can't get much unluckier than last year) this could be a .500-ish team with really strong pitching.

I see the point, but I don't think Smith should be punished just because he played with better players on offense.

Granted, there is something to be said for putting the entire offense on your back, though. Especially as a true Freshman.

I agree, it's kind of an impossible choice. I just think from a talent and production perspective, Smith had more. It's not hyperbolic at all to say he'd be a top 5 draft pick right now; I don't really remember those kind of conversations happening for MoC, though I'm sure he would have at least been a borderline 1st rounder.

The conversations around MoC were that he could go to the NFL right now kind of thing not a top 5.

I agree that Smith seems to have "more" as we sit here today but then I ask myself is it because Mo played 20+ years ago? Recency bias is a thing.

Agree 100%. Impossible problem to solve but a fun topic.
