I hope he does well in Knoxville. That being said, I would rather see that kind of money spent for a one year portal rental- if after this year Bo and West don't impress.

If you bring in a true freshman and he is making JJ Smith money, good luck filling out your RB room. A one year guy doesn't discourage recruits the same way being stuck behind a clear three year starter would.

Oh I wouldn't either. This is the type of money you'd expect a truly undisputed generational player to get though. DGG doesn't even crack the top 5 overall in his class on any recruiting ranking service and he's pretty much unanimously not even the #1 RB in his own class either.

This is almost uniquely a Tennessee thing. They zero in on one "must have" guy in the class and will go comically overboard to get him. It's best to just not even get in these battles with them

Exactly! If UT fans want to be excited about paying double or triple the competition for a RB that still won't help their team win the SEC, let alone even win rivalry games, then have at it

How does an institution that took in over $300 million in state tax money last year not have to make this report public?

Bey

Stein could be a good hire. If kentucky has some money to get the players he needs for his system, they certainly could improve.

Firmly in the top 5 of most delusional fan bases.

I honestly wouldn't even want OSU to over bid for Derrick Henry either. Like @jwinslow said:

You can still find very good RBs that can win you an NC in the Portal, and heck, OSU has about 6 RBs to choose from

Concerning UT:

The market just told them that their product, head to head with OSU, has to pay a 100% premium to overcome it's deficiencies.

Swap places and just imagine we found that out at OSU (shudder).

How many victory laps are you taking when you know your program is so middle of the pack it would have to pay double to get elite players away from competitors? How could you ever hope to actually compete at the highest level under that kind of a handicap?

Exactly, what Tennessee is doing in these situations goes far beyond just simply "outbidding". Ohio State would basically have to come close to probably tripling what was already a pretty good offer in terms of market value to be able to possibly win this one. That then sets a precedent for players already on the roster and future recruits we may go after.

DGG is not Derek Henry who a lot consider to be the greatest HS RB of all time. He's a good prospect but he's not so undisputed generational freak at the position.

Rb is too accessible of a position: it's the easiest with regard to scouting, acclimation and finding them.

It's the only type of wins they are going to get since they can't actually get the on the field. A RB especially is relatively a waste if you don't have comparable talent all around to the true competitors.

Bijan at Texas is a perfect example.

He had very good SO and JR years and Texas still only went a combined 13-12 in those seasons.

Devastating. Not sure we should even play football this season.

Has anyone else noticed that Cincinnati schools are producing more, and better recruits than Cleveland (and nearby environs), and certainly more than Columbus? And drilling a bit deeper, more recruits from Watterson than the entirety of the Columbus Public Schools? (Could add DeSales in there as well). What sort of secret sauce does Cincy have?

WOW! How can one compare two DL's, when one produced on the field, and played such an important part in winning a National Championship, versus one that has a shit-ton of promise, but hasn't seen one down on a collegiate football game? Maybe the point I missed, but just tapping the breaks a tad here. Would be more than happy to compare statistics, win/loss/# of Nati's etc AFTER three years. Hope the results are comparable, I really do. Comparing accomplishments made to potential, but yet unproven can be a slippery slope.

Appears the only thing that Yahoo doesn't allow is edits to the conferences we can draft from. They offer players from the Power 4 + Notre Dame.

Agree with the above. I'll opine that tOSU doesn't win in 2024 with only Trevion at RB, and NEEDED Quinshon as well. Two NFL future players at RB. Getting the tough yards etc. Maybe DGG is the 'missing' piece of the puzzle. Hard telling until you're in the middle of it. Also agree that tOSU has a good and deep RB room. Heck, our twos and threes could/would be starters at other D1 schools. And yeah, RB is the most easily replaced position on the field, so tOSU would most certainly find the next Quinshon in the portal. Go Bucks!
