Yep. USC didn't want to play an OOC rivalry game during crunch time of the conference schedule. Perfectly reasonable. ND being ND expected to just get their way and their every demand handed to them and be thanked for the reach around lacking assfuck.

This isn’t a “fun bowl,” the playoffs are a different attitude and beast. Win, hit Carmen Ohio, and leave the field like it’s just a regular fall Saturday. The Cotton Bowl trophy is a consolation prize if you don’t win the next one.

Yeah, if I’m Lincoln, I’m gone. Why ride the bench and hope for an NFL tryout when you could head to Tampa or another school and be showcased? Pretty easy decision, and in 100% all for it.
