Women's Pro Golf

Just another tidbit. Teaching pro once told me to watch the women golfers, not the men. Why, because the men hit such outrageously long shots, both drives and irons, while the women hit more comparable shots to we non-professional golfers. Used to be true, but now the women are banging their drivers much longer (than me certainly), and their short games are simply top notch, versus mine....anyway, even the HS players hit the ball further than I do. Watched the US Open qualifier at our course, and these guys were hitting driver, five iron to the opening par 5, and their tee box was almost touching the back shrubs. In case you're wondering, I hit driver, 3 wood, and from a 7 to an 8 into the green, depending on the wind. Believe the low qualifier shot a 63 from the tips....

Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 20 Straight B1G Titles)

Couple nice body bag wins for the netsters. Just a thought, saw that had away games at Baylor and Penn St two days apart. Is there enough room on the Buckeye jet to accommodate all of the tennis players? Might be a more economical way to get from those to those in two days. Don't know if tOSU has a stretch Lear, or somesuch that can take a dozen or so folk.....

C Christoph Tilly (Official Thread)

Not great insight, but Tilly has to start hitting his shots, in order to draw out opposing big to guard him. Kinda basic stuff. If tOSU needs him to shoot three's, we're in a whole lot of trouble. Do enjoy his 'jump hook', of sorts, and is effective when he gets ball 3-4 feet away from basket. He is forcing their bigs to shield him off of the boards, allowing Bynum and Devin to swoop in and flush the ball.....Hopefully he stays healthy, and Noel comes back soon. Any word on Noel's 'foot injury'?

PF A'mare Bynum (Official Thread)

Certainly have zero knowledge of how Bynum plays in practice, but he sure let's it all hang out in games. His time as 'sixth man' was abbreviated, as Noel got injured, elevating him to starter. Well, don't believe he will be relegated to the bench when Noel heals up. And don't believe he deserves to be as well. See an energy in him that not readily apparent in the other front court players. Might be a lamppost for other Buckeye recruits, in that you play and make plays, you're gonna get more and more minutes...

2026 BRPT Class Review

Hey, most of you guys are closer to the heart of Buckeye football than those of us on the Left Coast. Soooo, we'll take anything Buckeye oriented we can find. I agree, some of the 'classic' reporters (whatever happened to Wade?), did a great job of coordinating with others to do the four-pronged report, and added just enough difference. Will read any and every Buckeye outlook printed....Maybe a special section?

Go Bucks! And chuckled at the transfer portal bit. Given what we've seen, EVERYONE could be listed there, given the outrageous amounts of cash being thrown at these guys. Might opine that tOSU had so many transfer because of their/our proclivity to NOT pay outrageous sums to 18 year old recruits, but if one makes two-deep, etc then their money goes up. And that the three and four deep guys, leave, certainly for playing time, but for more cash.....would be interesting (to me at least), if some stalwart blogger would corner one of the transferees and ask what they're taking in versus what they did at tOSU.....

2027 OH WR Jamier Brown is a Buckeye!!!

Might suggest that the housing prices in Marion are 'more cost effective' than the upper North side of C'bus. One can burn up an automobile over and over and still be economically 'in the black'. Have seen in California for years. Of course the human cost of long distance commuting is higher, and do not believe C'bus has a 'commuter train' that services the greater C'bus area. As mentioned, looking to relocate back to C'bus, and am appalled at the prices of housing. We were in on a 'build-out' house in Dublin area, but bowed out when the price hit about $400,000 per bedroom. Would rather not be 'house rich-cash poor' in this era. Daughter is 31, and we're in no danger of needing space for teen agers/babies....It'll work out, will be back in C'bus in March-April, checkbook in hand. Gotta add in cost of season pass for men's and women's basketball to the cost of housing ..

2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

Nice, but I thought the problem as the O-line.

I wish they got somebody. I hope the off season development comes in.

There is still a chance. There very well could still be some new players in the transfer portal that Ohio State could make an offer to. There are at least 3 possibilities:

1) Indiana and Miami after the CFP Championship Game
2) Any school that hires a new head coach
3) Any graduate with eligibility

2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

This is simplifying the game way too much. Howard ran for 220 yards, Cardale ran for 80 in 3 starts, and Krenzel ran for 360. So OSU also hasn’t won an NC with a QB that’s run for more than 360.

I don’t mind Sayin running the ball more, especially options in short yardage. I don’t think it’s a magic key to unlocking more NCs, and it’s not worth a better passing game for a handful of scramble

And I doubt the fanbase that wants to wrap players in bubble wrap and play the backups more will be ok with their QB getting hurt running the ball against Purdue.
And in 14 games Sayin ran for 7 yds against Michigan, while compiling a total -72 yards in all games. The kid is a passing marvel, but he had three excellent WRs, two capable TEs, and at least one RB to work with. That worked well against Illinois, Penn State, and Texas. But his disinclination to run in the last two games allowed good defenses to concentrate on pass defense.
