Nico Iamaleava (QB Tennessee, bad poker player, transfer to UCLA)

Possibly in states where he plays, too. Pro athletes pay taxes in every jurisdiction where they play. I haven’t really thought about the sourcing rules for NIL income.

And although TN does not have an individual income tax, they do have a corporate franchise tax, business tax, and some local business taxes. I don’t know the rules well enough to what it would subject to, but TN definitely isn’t as easy as “no income taxes”. Definitely not as much as Cali, though.
If it's even 1/10th of what he's paying to commiefornia, I'd be shocked.

Obviously excluding sales taxes and stuff. I doubt he owns property or anything and he probably has a good CPA to get around most everything.

OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

I hate to say it, but the longer things are going on, it looks like OSU will have to come up with a Plan B (or C?) option for the SF starter. Plan B would probably involve exploring the European ranks (ugh). It's not a good position to be in at this point, but I'm worried OSU may have over-committed NIL resources to retain some of their starters, which may keep them from having the funds to get a true starting-caliber SF. You really do have to outsmart the opposition to be successful recruiting at a program at OSU right now - it seems like they're just not going to outbid the SEC and programs like Miami for players like Kennard Davis, even if they need someone like him. This is where they really need a shrewd GM to manage the NIL pool in order to maximize the talent - perhaps the House v. NCAA case will help OSU hoops somewhat as they clearly have not figured out how to get great success in the portal era.

No State income tax in Tennessee. It's part of the reason I'm leaving Ohio the moment I retire or whenever opportunity strikes once the kids are out of the house....So yeah

That's a $210,000 difference.
