Did the same with daughter coming out of HS. Visited various colleges, and you might want to get him qualified for JO's. Colleges recruit kids with Junior Olympic times, and believe me, they're a big deal. A kid from a small HS, versus a 2,000+ HS, can compete equally in the pool. Anyway, most of the colleges don't have much money for scholarships (not entirely certain how the new rules are), but most 'whole' scholarships are broken into several/many pieces so each kid can get some. Many swimmers rely on academic scholarships, so keep grades up (with as many AP classes as possible). We interviewed coach at Northwestern, and when started throwing times around, he mentioned he just got a kid from NC with a JO times 2 seconds (huge!) better than daughter. And we did summer league, year-rounds, etc for several years. She swam four years at small school, but took home 3 All American trophies. Top three in every event, including relays, get All American.....

Well, Dub, have always marveled how at the end of an (any) argument, it's always my fault, even when she dented my car with hers, as I was parked in the driveway, waaaay over to my side....other issues as well. Maybe we do need a female as President, against Iranians, Russians, Chinese, etc.

Bestbuck, am I correct in thinking a win at the lower seeds counts as much as one at the top? Only ask because of the order in which they play. Doubles, then seed #1, #2, etc? Or maybe reverse?

I say an argument is "won" when shit goes the way I say it's going to go. "Do your homework." I win the argument when the homework is done. "Go to bed." I win the argument when the kid goes to bed.
She says the argument is "won" when everyone agrees with her. There isn't a "Do your homework" from her. It's "Here's why you need to do your homework and I'm going to keep lecturing you until you understand and agree." Very frustrating.
Anyway, they say not to talk about religion or politics with people. I think it's because you really can't present any facts in either case that people will allow to change their minds. According to that video I linked, I guess most people aren't intelligent enough to accept someone else's viewpoint on these things.

Agreed. This is one backstory would pay to hear. Thought he did OK with the Huskers, but also believe they couldn't put enough talent on the field with him. Oregon with it's Nike loot seems like a better place, all around. Watched a HS game, and wasn't all that impressed, but gotta realize I'm not a college recruiter. Wouldn't count him out, don't know much about Brock, but Oregon publicists are going to sell more seats with Raiola's name than other. People smarter than I am, might recollect how well he did against a strong defense (tOSU).....

Absolutely. I quit watching/listening to the news long ago, when I finally figured out that every news source has an agenda or their own sense of the "truth". Avoiding actual politics here, but I can see the effect opposite-sided sources have had on different people in my life. Some have become extreme right-wingers, and some have become extreme left-wingers. For a while, those people couldn't carry on normal conversations about ANYTHING without the topic drifting to the good/bad/ugly of the world.
Additionally, I have 2 good buddies I meet up with about once a week. One is very conservative, and the other is very liberal. I wouldn't call either "extreme", though. We talk about important stuff - whether the Cavs might win this series, whether the Browns are going to ever win a super bowl in our life times, Baldur's Gate 3, some dumb video one of us found on Jomboy Media, how old we are, now... And when politics comes up, they're pretty civil. And I'm just a dufus when it comes to that stuff, so I got nothing to add.

Nevertheless, this fellow always seems to land on his feet. Tennessee, USC, Bama, Ole Miss, and now LSU. Pretty heady positions. Not terribly impressed by his accomplishments at each stop. But hey, seems like a dearth of competent coaches out there. Or he's got a good publicist.

Noted that Jamir Ffrench had transferred to TSUN. Shamefully admit watched the Xichigan spring game at the tail end of tOSU game....Mr. Ffrench was an tOSU recruit for a time, then decided to take his game to Texas. Guess he didn't like the food in Austin.

so the boy finished his sophomore swim season, and plans to swim competitive this summer (around Football conditioning) - He decided he wants to swim in college, so he created a recruiting profile and has been in contact with 3 DIII schools that all want to setup visits this summer, and 1 DII school that also wants to setup a visit. pretty cool - all of the schools have a PT program (he wants to get his DPT), so we'll see how all of this plays out.
