Brian "Body Kount" Kelly (Temu Ed Orgeron)

Why were Saban, Miles, and O (as well as 3 Baseball coaches) all able to reach the mountaintop at LSU but Kelly wasn't?

Let me save you rant time on your podcast.

Because 2 of the 3 head coaches on your list had coordinators and talent on their respective staffs that were able to mask their inadequacies as head coaches.

Miles trajectory wasn't as bad as O's. The former still absolutely benefited from the same good fortune, but with the added bonus of one of the most favorable turn(s) of chance that was the 2007 CFB season.

Without that, Les it title-less and probably doesn't even get his 2011 shot.

Oh, and Fuck Brian Kelly. Arrogant, narcissistic clown.

HC Ryan Day (National Champion)

So Sark is headed to the NFL
and we have a number of fellas going into next years NFL draft
Day needs to fill out his Christmas list of Texas players we want
Merry Christmas to us

Does the SEC still have the no transfer between conference teams rule?

If so, a lot of these guys will be open season, without much competition outside of Miami or Oregon

Brian "Body Kount" Kelly (Temu Ed Orgeron)

No offense intended but, perhaps one reason may be because those coaches arrived at a time when the SEC set the standard for back-handed payments to players.

not going to deny stuff like that was happening.
the point was more that those coaches took LSU as an opportunity. But still put out the effort required to get to the top.

Kelly honestly seemed to think he would magically win a title because he was wearing an LSU shirt.
and was appalled that people had the audacity to question him when things weren't going well.
Miles was a buffoon, and O never should have made it higher up the ladder than a deckhand on a shrimp boat. But both those guys really did work their asses off here.

Looking at this from the DEEP South with a Yankee perspective, the possibility that NIL levelled the playing field was implied by Saban's recent interview saying that kids were looking at SEC schools differently in the NIL era.
if you listen to Saban speak on the subject, it's the entire system that changed and why he got out.

Saban was a master at taking in underclassmen and completely indoctrinating them with his "system". They never left (because they couldn't with transfer rules). Everything was all about what was best for the program. And those kids after a few years of that indoctrination became basically machines. One machine graduated, the next machine plugged in and took over. 17 years of doing that and kids wanted to be a part of it because it got them to where they wanted to be.

Now, these kids care only about the money. And if you don't give it to them they leave. If you don't hand them the starting spot, they leave. "Pay me and Play me".
So you end up with a roster of kids that half of them are just hired mercenaries that have not been through the indoctrination camp. And guys you spent a lot of time indoctrinating are now playing for the rival.

S Caleb Downs, Captain (All B1G, All-American, National Champion)

These stats give even more proof that Caleb Downs is the best DB in college football

Caleb Downs has made it hard on opposing teams, especially opposing wide receivers and quarterbacks.

There are so many highlights to Ohio State's defense, it is hard to keep track of all of the players, but there is one that seems to be standing out just a little bit more than the rest. Junior safety Caleb Downs has had a phenomenal season so far for the Buckeyes in his second year at Ohio State.

So far in his second season with the Buckeyes, Downs has a total of 19 tackles, 11 solo tackles, and one interception. The takeaways are not as high right now, but that is also because quarterbacks don't want to target Downs or the receivers he is covering because he has such good coverage on them.

According to PFF, Pro Football Focus, Downs has only allowed 21 yards to receivers he has covered; he has not allowed a single touchdown, quarterbacks have an average 27.4 passer rating when they have targeted the receivers he has covered, and he has an 88.5 coverage grade.

Ohio State Safety Caleb Downs This Season:

Downs has been key to Ohio State's defense being so dominant this season. When Downs is able to take over a third of the field away from quarterbacks, that leaves less for a quarterback to deal with. If the opposing quarterback can't feel comfortable throwing the ball, it forces the offense to run the ball more, which the Buckeyes are also comfortable stopping.

Brian "Body Kount" Kelly (Temu Ed Orgeron)

I'm going to touch on this on our podcast this week.

Why were Saban, Miles, and O (as well as 3 Baseball coaches) all able to reach the mountaintop at LSU but Kelly wasn't?

those 3 all got to LSU at a point in their careers where they all still had something to prove. They all knew LSU could provide all of the pieces to be able to prove it, but they also knew that THEY had to prove it. And all of them did whatever it took to get there. They approached the job with the same passion the fans have for the team. They chased Championships. And all 3 got one.

Kelly came here with just one piece missing from his resume. Probably was getting into the Hall of Fame even with that piece missing.
Kelly approached the job as if LSU being LSU would be enough on its own to bring a title to him. He didn't chase it. He expected it to fall in his lap. It was like he truly believed it was ND's fault he didn't already have one and that LSU would just give him one if he just graced us with his presence.

And honestly, the team even looked like they too thought they just had to "show up" to win.

and as we all know, College Football doesn't work that way.
you have to go out and take it.

yeah LSU has every conceivable tool you'll ever need to win titles. But if you don't use every single one of them, you ain't gonna win one, because somebody else out there is using all of his.
No offense intended but, perhaps one reason may be because those coaches arrived at a time when the SEC set the standard for back-handed payments to players. Looking at this from the DEEP South with a Yankee perspective, the possibility that NIL levelled the playing field was implied by Saban's recent interview saying that kids were looking at SEC schools differently in the NIL era.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, Arrogant Twatwaffles, Emasculated Cucks, Feckless Marmots, Dirty Cheaters

It's not very scUM to just drop the appeals, I'll take this as further admission of guilt and someone must have convinced them that they might expose themselves more when trying to appeal against the NCAAs findings
I believe the appeals were fan service, and fan service only. They were quietly abandoned right on schedule.

2025 Polls

Almost everybody has Oregon written into the playoff bracket in magic marker.

But they still play AT Iowa (who lost to Indiana in the last couple of minutes) and AT Washingon.

If they drop both of those, they’ll most likely be out of the playoffs,

Oregon is 100% out with 3 losses. They would not have any good wins at that point and wouldn't even be in the conversation even if there were room for a 3 loss to sneak in.

I don't think Oregon is as good as last year but it's still hard to see them losing both of those games
