OL Coach Tyler Bowen (Official Thread)

I don't know if he's any good or not.....I just can't stand stupid logic. He CLEARLY did a good job? Just because he got hired by the same guy at 3 stops doesn't mean he's good. Maybe he's just a yes man. Maybe he's dating somebody's daughter. Maybe he's football Jesus. Maybe he has compromising pictures. But that sentence from Spencer Holbrook just bothers me.

Airport annoyances

Not as good as AEP ponds!
Back in the 70's and 80's before the levied the Colorado river there used to be what we called seepage ponds which were pools of water that had seeped out from the river usually anywhere from 100 to 500 yards inland from the river. these were stocked with bass, blue gill and crappies. Some of the most fun I had as a kid was rigging a pole from a bamboo stick, fishing line a hook and literally yanking these fish from the water. Those were the days. Topock slough was another great fishing spot. Topock was made famous by the movie Easy Rider, you can see them crossing the bridge in the movie

I spent a lot of time in the water below that bridge in the late 70's-early 90's.

CB Devin Sanchez (Official Thread)

One key player to watch during Ohio State football spring practice

This player has a shot to become an underrated contributor this season if he has a strong spring.

Ohio State cornerback Devin Sanchez has a huge opportunity this spring

If Sanchez has a solid spring, he has a real shot to become the other outside cornerback opposite of Jermaine Mathews Jr.

Mathews Jr. is a really good player, and he needs someone with equal skills on the opposite side of the field. Sanchez certainly has the talent to do that.

Sanchez needs to show this spring that he has improved his technique so that he doesn't get beaten off the line of scrimmage as easily as he did last season. He let the receiver have too easy a release, and that hindered his ability to break up passes and force incompletions.

Matt Patricia loves the size and the speed that Sanchez has at the cornerback spot. It's all about him having some development as a second-year player in the program. Spring has a chance to really instill some confidence in him, especially going against a really good Ohio State offense.

College football's biggest trap games in 2026: Texas, Ohio State among teams that face sneaky tests

These eight potential CFP contenders should beware -- you can't take anything for granted in college football

Ohio State at Nebraska, Nov. 21

The Buckeyes have not lost the game preceding Michigan under Ryan Day, but there was a close call at Maryland in 2022 when Ohio State was ranked No. 2 and unbeaten.

Day has been nearly untouchable against non-elite opponents during his tenure, so this one drips with nobody-will-see-it-coming measures. The toughest assignment for the Buckeyes is keeping their eyes on the Huskers with Michigan looming at Ohio Stadium.

Matt Rhule hasn't beaten a ranked opponent with the Huskers and could get as many as five opportunities to do so this fall. Nebraska signed former Virginia and UNLV star Anthony Colandrea in the portal after losing Dylan Raiola to Oregon. Nebraska's only win in 11 tries against Ohio State came in Lincoln during the 2011 season, a 34-27 decision that led to a coaching change a few months later, with Urban Meyer eventually taking over

It's going to be a hell of a challenge to only pick five guys for the B1G all-conference first team this season. I would like to think that Bruce will be chosen, as he certainly deserves it; however, there are 5+ others that also deserve it. Bennett Stirtz, Keaton Wagler, Jeremy Fears, Yaxel Lendeborg and Braden Smith all deserve it, too. What is going to be the tie-breaker in one of those guys not making it? I can see voters not putting Wagler on the first team since he is a freshman, and most of those other guys aren't going to have another chance to make it - that's not a great reason for Wagler to not be chosen, but I can see it playing out that way.
Fuck Jeremy Fears and his bullshit Draymond tactics. We got called for the groin kick on Bynumbut Fears has nowbeen caught 2 other times including a technical today!

Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

One more thing to add, and it’s a bit late but that’s okay. There are three things that are certain in life: death, taxes, and Nasir Bailey’s fear of wrestling Jesse Mendez.
The dude was one stall away from forfeiting and essentially gave up against Mendez for the 2nd time this season. I’m pretty sure he pussed out when Iowa came to town too as the Hawkeyes offered up their sacrificial lamb Kale Peterson in Bailey’s place.

Big Ten honors are going to be voted on soon - who gets Coach of the Year? You have two viable candidates. Dusty May and Fred Hoiberg. I would give it to May because his team won the league by 4 games, but I can see why people would go for Hoiberg. Nebraska was picked #14 in the preseason beat writer's poll, and finished tied for 2nd. Hoiberg obviously was able to get the most out of his team relative to expectations. UM was picked #2 and Purdue #1. Oregon was the biggest disappointment, preseason #5 finished tied for 15th. OSU was picked #9 and finished 8th.

Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

Joe Lunardi is employed by ESPN and is obligated to shill for the SEC so I don't think him having Auburn in really means much. They are gonna have to at least win 2 SEC tourney games to even really be considered.
Yeah, there may be some of that element, but I think Lunardi is also overrated as a bracketologist. He kind of is a leader being the ESPN guy, but his predictions are actually worse off than a lot of other people who do the same thing.

If Indiana played Miami's schedule, they'd be undefeated, too. I don't care what WAB and SOR say, I realize the committee may consider them, but I don't. Kenpom has Miami rated well below the level of a tournament team, and I've seen with my own eyes Miami Ohio cannot play defense at the level needed to be competitive in a national tournament. They have offense, I'll give them that, but they'll be a really easy out for someone. They'll get in, but it's not much of an accomplishment to go undefeated against terrible competition. If a team was unbeaten after playing 30 games against non-D1 teams, you'd have people and metrics to point to arguing that they should be in, as well.

Id rather see a team like Miami get a chance any day than some proven completely mediocre power conference team like Auburn and Indiana. We don't know what the committee will actually do but I don't believe they will leave a team that finished the regular season out.

If a 31-0 regular season does not get you an at large bid the why even play the regular season ?

The schedule was easy but they won every game.

It be the most absurd thing ever that a perfect regular season would not be 1 of a 68 team tournament. The optics would be awful.

May as well just rest until March and play a 3 game tournament for all mid majors then.

They have created WAB and SOR for a reason to compare mid major resumes vs the big boy resumes

Miami's WAB is 31
Miami's SOR is 21

Akron Zips (Official Thread)

Akron Football Bowl Eligible for 2026

The Zips received a waiver from the NCAA on Wednesday that will immediately eliminate their postseason ban and remove practice restrictions that were in place for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

"We are very proud of our academic progress and excited about the opportunity to compete in the postseason this fall," Akron Head Football Coach Joe Moorhead stated.

Akron's bowl ban and restrictions were due to the 2021-22 academic year, when a coaching change and roster adjustments caused the football team's APR to fall below the required four-year average. The Zips, who finished the season 5-7 (4-4 in the MAC), their best record since the 2017 season, were not only ineligible for the postseason, but also forced to decrease their full practice hours from 20 hours to 16 hours each week throughout the season.

Akron is now eligible for the MAC football championship and a bowl game if it gets to at least six wins.

The Zips last played in a bowl game in 2017.
