DE Nick Bosa (5x Pro Bowl, All Pro, 2019 ROY, 2022 DPOY, San Francisco 49ers)

DEVELOPED HERE. Downs is one of the top prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft class, just like Nick Bosa in the 2019 class and Cameron Heyward in the 2011 class. While Downs must wait another year to make his professional debut, Bosa and Heyward have been kicking it in the league for a long time — especially Heyward, who will enter his 15th NFL season this fall.

This week, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler ranked Bosa as the No. 5 edge rusher in the NFL behind Myles Garrett (Cleveland Browns), T.J. Watt (Pittsburgh Steelers), Micah Parsons (Dallas Cowboys) and Maxx Crosby (Las Vegas Raiders). He ranked Bosa ahead of Trey Hendrickson (Cincinnati Bengals), Aidan Hutchinson (Detroit Lions), Will Anderson Jr. (Houston Texans), Danielle Hunter (Houston Texans) and Jared Verse (Los Angeles Rams).

Bosa is an eye-test pass rusher. While his 19.5 sacks over the past two seasons represent mild production for a top-five pass rusher, Bosa's disruption is obvious.
"His leverage, explosiveness, power and polished rush arsenal are unmatched," an NFL personnel director said. "He has the same rush moves as [brother] Joey Bosa but with better play strength to win in a variety of ways."
And Bosa posted a 22.2% pass rush win rate, up nearly four points from the previous year. His 0.70 "get-off" in 2024 was the quickest in his career and tied Garrett for the best of the season.
Since 2021, Bosa has generated 121 quick pressures (under 2.5 seconds), the fifth most in the NFL during that span. Four NFL players have at least 60 sacks and 10 fumbles since 2019 — Watt, Garrett, Bosa and Hendrickson.

S Caleb Downs (All B1G, All-American, National Champion)

“IT WAS A BLESSING.” Cleveland.com’s Stefan Krajisnik took readers inside Caleb Downs’ offseason as an EA Sports College Football 26 (deluxe edition) cover star and “his drive for more with Ohio State football.”

There was much to appreciate in the article, which details Downs’ passion for golf, his claim that Sonny Styles is the team’s biggest trash talker and more. The main appeal, however, was Downs’ appearance with Ryan Day and Jeremiah Smith on the College Football 26 cover.

“At the end of the day, in 15-20 years, I can tell my son, tell my daughter, that’s your dad on the cover of a video game,” Downs told Krajisnik. “That’s something a lot of people can’t say.”

Regarding his experience traveling with Day and Smith to Pasadena for the cover shoot inside Rose Bowl Stadium, Downs said it was something of a dream come true.

“It was a blessing just because we had been through a whole season together,” Downs said. “Our relationships have all grown. To all be in that situation, it’s surreal.”

I can imagine. What an honor!

“A TRUE BLUE-CHIP TALENT.” Downs’ name appeared in more than one article on Thursday, as The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranked the unanimous All-American the No. 1 defensive underclassman prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft class.

Here’s what Brugler wrote about Downs:

Arguably America’s best draft-eligible prospect this season regardless of position, Downs made national headlines after a stellar freshman year at Alabama by heading north to Ohio State. His arrival was as-advertised, as Downs’ versatility on the back end — playing either safety spot, corner, slot or rush linebacker — unlocked what turned into a national championship defense.
Downs could be a bit bigger, but his football instincts — especially in run support — are the best of any defensive back in college football. A fierce hitter who can cover anything sideline to sideline while adding value in the kick return game, Downs is a true blue-chip talent who’s reminiscent of a cross between Budda Baker and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Despite his position, he will be in the mix as a top-three prospect in the 2026 draft class.

Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

How is this allowed?
I’m not trolling, but why is the network negotiating with the visiting team? Shouldn’t this be done with the home teams network?
Because the contract between the schools specified an August 30 (Saturday) date. A change to Sunday would require a change to the contract and both schools would have to agree.

2022 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

The 2022 WR class was terrible lol.
That class didn't have a chance though. Besides almost all of them constantly being injured, they were sandwiched between 2 amazing WR classes in 2021(Egbuka and MHjr) and 2023(Tate, Inniss and Rodgers). And then on top of that, if any of them had even stayed until their 3rd years, they would have to compete against one of the greatest HS WRs ever in JJ Smith in 2024 along with Mylan Graham. That was a throwaway class.

2022 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Do believe that the 2022 class was littered with talent. As noted, those that stay are in the hunt for starting positions. tOSU stunted the normal progression of these kids by opening up the coffers to keep many of the players ahead of them (and won a natty), causing these guys to want to see the field probably 1-2 years earlier than they would with the Buckeyes. Truly, some of these guys might not have ever seen the field, except maybe on special teams, and anyway, with such a short shelf life of eligibility, cannot fault them for their decisions. Time will tell whether their decisions worked (or not). Probably most of them scored a bigger 'bag' of loot than were being given at tOSU, so there's that as well. Finally, this is the result of many consecutive good/great years of recruiting. Keep adding a top 5 class, of 26 (?) players, and there are certainly going to be logjams along the way. Also believe that's a good problem to have. Go Bucks!

Derrek Cooper keeps Ohio State in the mix ahead of his July 20 commitment date.

Not hosting recruits on campus right now, it’s a more quiet time surrounding Ohio State recruiting in regards to in-person efforts. It’s decision season for several guys on the big board for the Buckeyes, and the 2026 class is really starting to take shape for programs across the country.

Still an impressive class, Ohio State sits at sixth with 21 commitments, with hopes to land additional top guys sooner rather than later. Likely not going north of 25 players, it’s unlikely Ohio State finishes in the top three of the rankings purely based on quantity, but looking at a handful of realistic options should present the chance at finishing in the top five when all is said and done.

Results to soon follow, Ohio State’s coaching staff will see where they’ve won and where they need to pivot as they look to fill important pieces before signing day.

Buckeyes in the top five for Cooper ahead of decision

Ohio State and position coach Carlos Locklyn have long presented the desire to take two running backs in the 2026 class. One in the fold thanks to Ohio native Favoir Akih, the Buckeyes have still hunted a list of names and over the course of this cycle. Several of those names have come and gone in terms of being real possibilities.

An ever-changing landscape that is recruiting, Ohio State has had some mainstay guys they’re after, but in July there’s just a small few remaining they can look to as potential additions. Florida native and familiar prep Chaminade-Madonna product Derrek Cooper has been a common theme this recruiting class, and fortunately for the Buckeyes he will continue to be.

The No. 30 player nationally and second-ranked athlete in the class per the 247Sports Composite, Cooper took to social media on Thursday to share the latest news in his recruitment as he narrowed it down to just five remaining schools he is still considering before making his commitment.

In addition to Ohio State, four southern schools in Florida State, Georgia, Miami, and Texas were left with a chance. From that list, Texas is the only program listed that doesn’t have a true running back already committed, so they have the ability to prioritize him as the guy. Still, this can be anyone’s race if they put their money with their mouth is.

The Buckeyes are still recruiting the top running back in the class in Savion Hiter, but with Michigan and Tennessee reportedly offering more money in the NIL aspects, Ohio State may not be as much of a threat down the stretch. Regardless, Ohio State is in the top schools list for both Cooper and Hiter. If they really want a second back in this class, they’re going to have to pony up it seems.

Cooper’s commitment coming July 20. Ohio State won’t have to wait long to see their fate and whether or not they need to pivot elsewhere, but this late into the summer the options are coming off the board.

Not looking good for Ohio State to land four-star edge rusher

The position in this class facing the most scrutiny for Ohio State’s 2026 class is edge rusher. Just one player committed thanks to Khary Wilder, the Buckeyes have missed out thus far on basically all of their top targets they’ve put a ton of time and effort into. NIL amounts being the main reason for finishing runner-up many times, it’s a tough place to be in whether or not these deals end up panning out or not.

Ohio State’s options are wearing thin, and Texas native KJ Ford is in many aspects the last true big name player the Buckeyes are chasing in this cycle before having to reassess where to go if they are to miss out. Making his top three schools list just last week, Ford kept the Buckeyes in the mix with Florida and Texas A&M, but with his planned commitment coming later today, Thursday that sent a major change to his recruitment if the predictions hold true.

Coming out of left field, Alabama was pegged as the landing spot by On3’s Steve Wiltfong. Similar to the Felix Ojo’s recruitment to Texas Tech, it’s another instance where a program not originally in the running makes a late push and becomes a real threat. The No. 116 player nationally and 15th best edge rusher per the 247Sports Composite, it’s easy to see why bigger offers are coming late in the game with not many of these caliber guys left.

Learning their fate today, it’s not likely Ohio State wins this recruitment, and it will be another blow to the cycle that hasn’t been real kind at the edge rusher position. A spot that’s thin on the current roster thanks to similar recruiting cycles the last couple of years, the Buckeyes have some major work to do to reload this group of importance following this season.

Whether that’s now or through the transfer portal, Larry Johnson and Ohio State need to adjust and do so quickly.

What kind of car do you drive?

daughters 2014 Cadillac ATS started having transmission issues (91k miles) and she has started to drive more this past year (her BF goes to school about 3 hours away from her and she goes to school about 1.5-2hrs from us) - so yesterday i was shopping online and found one of the local dealers closest to my house had a 2019 Buick Encore - only 18k miles, loaded pretty decent little car, ended up buying it yesterday. Wife has a 21 Encore that she loves so we figured this will suit her well through school.

Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I am not an advocate for destroying the long term of the Cavs for a one-year one-time shot at winning it all.. and paying LBJ $50M+
If he wants to do something crazy like rip up that contract that can keep Cavs intact and he'd have his best shot at one final ring... I'm in..

Same. If he gets a buyout and wants to win a title, I'd be more than happy to have him back for as long as he wants to suit up.
