OC had had good numbers the past 2 years, 1 at New Mexico and 1 at Utah....BUT I think a lot of that has to do with him having Devon Dampier who is a true dynamic running threat at QB that most MWC and Pac 12 Ds are ill equiped to handle. He was the OC at Syracuse in 2023 and that offense was not good at all. Also got shut down by the 1 higher level D they played this year (Texas Tech)

DC seems like a guy who's great for a BYU but I think he's gonna have problems transitioning to higher expectations and level of competition. Hes not the NFL type that scUM is used to will be interesting to see how a true college guy stands up there now.

The way it appears that he's forming his staff he is bringing in guys with him who also lack regional and southern ties. Trying to bring West coast type cultures to scUM is about the same as trying to bring whatever Rich Rod was selling in. It's probably not going to be as disastrous, but I think the natives are gonna start getting restless after 2/3 years.

Made even worse by the fact you aren't going to get the talent up front if you don't (basically) guarantee the money.

It's one thing for a J Smith to get the most money and then everyone shuts up after the first practice. Its another thing to have a bust that you can't make take a hair cut. Prices will spiral and locker rooms will be a tricky, tricky thing.

Better for everyone once they get to full on employee status-->union--> CBA like other professional sports.

"Home run" hires don't settle for MWC/PAC 12 caliber buddies as coordinators. They coulda done a lot worse at HC but if these really do end up being his coordinator hires it's a better outcome than if they brought in a Brohm/Monken and they happened to land actual high level coordinators
