HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Not my job. I read this same nonsense in the Chris Holtmann thread for years. The fans don't have a great idea who to replace him with, oh ACTUALLY ohio state isn't all that accomplished historically in this sport so we should all just feel lucky we have someone running a clean program... the gap between OSU and your average cfb program is massive. There's dozens of guys in the sport who could take our massive resources and go 10-2 every year, lose to michigan every year, and lose every post season game not played during a pandemic.
"Not My Job" yet you have all the answers on who the Head Coach and other staff should be. When did we start letting these Facebook couch coaches on this board? They are completely ruining it.

With how the landscaped has totally changed winning 10/11 games a year but getting outed early in the playoff is going to be seen as a major disappointment for the upper level teams. You could say it's "insane" to want to fire a guy who wins 10/11 a year, but at some point you have to take the risk if you want to win the grand prize some day.

I think there are some coaching studs in their 40's who have experience that will make the jump to major P5s in the very near future....Bob Chesney and Jon Sumrall come to mind. That said, I'm not remotely close to even considering wanting Day gone. He's made the changes we wanted, i.e. hire a true OC, and he still has some more to go (unfortunately, looking at you LJ), but we lost by 1 on the road in a game we did most critical moments wrong. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and no reason to jump to conclusions yet.

There's only one coach I would trade Ryan Day with and that's very very unlikely to happen (Saban). I don't think I would even trade Coach Day for Urban, even though he was obviously a great coach for us. Coach Day is fine where he is, at least for now, what he needs to be doing is thinking if it's worth it or not to attack the DL, DC and perhaps OL coaching market to get the best possible people to perform their job at said positions at an elite level - Coaching and Recruiting.

Agreed and this should’ve happened at the end of last season.

Here are the options:

1. Lanning - I'd be surprised to see him leave for another B10 school, especially with the resources they have. He's also had the same issues as Day without any of the successes.
2. DeBoer - Knee deep in the shit at Bama trying to find his offense and putting out fires on defense.
3a. Brian Kelly/Dabo Sweeny - I'd rather set myself on fire.
3b. Lane Kiffin - no
3c. Kyle Whittingham - A modern day Tressel but has lost his last 5 bowl games
4. Lance Leipold - Was a hot name that has started the season 1-5.
5. Fickell - A very good coach, not an improvement
6. Marcus Freeman - I think he clearly does everything worse than Day. If he improves might be an option in a decade.
7. A hot coordinator or an FCS coach like Jimmy Rogers - Not someone you hire expecting them to come in and immediately win a title. Tressel did it, but I wouldn't count on that happening again for OSU.

I guess you could throw Sark in there but I don't think he'd leave Texas and it's not like he's won a bunch in the CFP.
