Saw this on e!spn. Came here to see what’s really going on since I haven’t followed recruiting much at all since COVID. This is exactly why.

Commitments mean zilch nowadays. Would be cool for the Bucks if he stuck, but reading what he said, he’s about as committed as I am to not inhaling about a dozen Oreos washed down with a glass of chocolate milk tonight around midnight.

It’s not ‘pay back what he was paid’. It’s pay back whatever repercussions are in the contract that he signed. In this case his contract was similar to a coaches contract where the buyout starts high and goes down with time.

If he was coerced it is one thing. A lot of contracts have been voided due to signing under distress, but high profile athletes have more leverage than the schools in these negotiations. They also have agents and/or lawyers. If UGA gave him a contract and he didn’t like it there were dozens of schools he could have gone to.

If there are extenuating circumstances where UGA violated his rights then yes there is a legal battle and the athlete has some leverage. But as it sounds right now he signed a 1 year deal with UGA and then left after a couple of weeks for a bigger bag. At that point UGA is now out a starting DE for the next year and their window to find a replacement is gone. They are entitled to his buyout money.

He’d be a good match at ND, especially with their RB coming back. that would scare me.

I think we will hold awhile……lose him awhile……then be a 50/50 at the end. I’ve seen worse.

This is how it is now. Recruits, especially elite ones hold all the leverage and they know it.

I think if he's a guy who's purely gonna go to the highest bidder then we likely aren't holding on

Have to hope he at least somewhat cares about what the program is selling.
