A plane crash

Yep amazing views out the plane windows. Always had to make sure you had a set of clothes in your backpack, because you were never sure your luggage was making the flight due to weight constraints
When I was out there it was a 50/50 chance that your plane back into town would be able to land because of the fog. Spent many a night at Adak waiting for another chance to get back out there

One of my buddies from those days, forgot his name but he was a trip. These are old WW2 bunkers

A plane crash

I remember my first trip back to Anchorage from Shemya. We stopped at Dutch harbor, we approached from the west and had to circle the bay in order to land and that fucking plane was shaking so badly if I hadn't been buckled in I surely would have slammed my head on the ceiling. It was a rough landing but we made it uneventfully to the ground. I swear those flights over the Alaskan Peninsula were some of the most breath taking I've ever flown. Miles and miles of uninhabitable wilderness out the window.

Headlines You Don't See Every Day (outside of Florida)

Internet sends love to apparent wife of Astronomer CEO Andy Byron after he’s caught canoodling with employee at Coldplay concert

It all happened at the Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston. It was all music and fun… until Chris Martin, lead singer of the iconic band, decided to activate the Kiss Cam. His intention was to hype up the crowd, but it had quite the opposite effect for two people.

Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron. They have two children together. The video shows him with the company's CPO, Kristin Cabot, who is also reportedly married.

Game Thread #1 Texas at #2/#3 tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, 12pm ET, FOX

To me the biggest concern for OSU in this game is whether our defensive front seven can hold up physically in the interior and get the calls and run fits right to limit yardage and big plays from gash running plays, especially designed and improvised QB runs. Even if pressure on Manning isn't great, I'm much more concerned about that than about him ripping the defense up from the pocket. I think the Buckeyes' offense will put up at least 24 and agree with Jax that this feels like a big Max Klare game.
Sort of a unique game where our weaknesses matchup somewhat. They lost everyone on their OL and we lost a lot on the DL. We return maybe the best OL in the country and they have a good DL.

I think where the game will turn is our skill compared to theirs. Our secondary is better in my opinion and their secondary has to deal with the best skill position talent in the country.

That said, need to run the ball haha

Ah yes, that’s a helluva flight from Anchorage to Dutch. Had half the ceiling fall in one time and then had to land at King(?) Is on the AF strip to refuel because the headwinds were so strong.

The takeoff out of Dutch straight up is wild and seeing the plane wreckage on that Mountain as your going up is a bit unnerving.

Good times for young men….

MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

the reaction time you have to decide then get your bat in the right place is insane. honestly, i look at these high school kids touching high 80s low 90s "easily" and i'm impressed they get hit - my son faced a kid throwing 87-89 pretty consistently this year and managed to get 2 hits - i would fail so badly at it
Yep. That's if I didn't pull a John Kruk and fold as it was coming towards the plate! LOL

Cincinnati Reds (2025 is our year! Haha thats actually funny)

I don't see how anyone could put Steel Hall above Tyson Lewis.

Lewis has dominated a professional league already. Hall has another year of HS iirc.

Scouts and advanced metrics both point to Lewis being "different" (exit velo's etc)

Hall has shown a weakness against secondary pitches in HS.
And not a single corner outfielder amongst them.

RB James Peoples (National Champion)

About as close to JK as you can get…. I’m a fan of shorter RBs. Those 5’9 220 pound kids who can get to full speed in 5 years.

Hate that I like this player but that’s why I was bummed when we lost out on Blake Corum years ago. Kids in that size range are just tough to deal with and luckily Peoples fits that mold.

A plane crash

In the 1990's I regularly rode on egg beaters from Anchorage Alaska to out to the Aleutians. I survived several terrifying landing in Dutch Harbor. Never got scared once. In the 2000's I flew to London and back several times. I was on a much safer plane, a jet to be exact but as I've aged I've become more aware of my mortality. I prefer not to fly these days. Call it a fear of flying but I feel out of control up at the mercy of the pilots, the aircraft and other factors. The last time I flew we hit some turbulence on our approach that shook us up pretty good and that was it for me.

SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

Who gives a shit if the SEC has a rule that seems to parrot the NFL rule.. who gives a shit if they use it for nefarious purposes to enhance the likes of Bama over the cocks... who cares if they use it as an excuse ... if they even do...

Heres what I think. The SEC went short term with the like minded short term thinkers at ESPN. Say what you want about Delaney but ... solid academic institutions, unified for more than athletic purpose alone, along with its vast alumni and consequently, money... leveraged into even more money through the B1G network and expansion plan. (Hint, it wasn't about Maryland or Rutgers. It was about NYC and DC)

Moreover, the SEC s weekness has been its small footprint. Well... it ain't getting much bigger. The B1G goes from NYC to Seattle to Los Angeles. .. Chicago... Minneapolis... Detroit... Pittsburgh.. Philly... Baltimore....

SEC has Dallas and Atlanta.. NoLa.. what else, market wise?
