WR Jeremiah Smith (All B1G, B1G Frosh/WR of Year, All-American, 2025 Rose Bowl Off MVP, National Champion)

Klatt comparing Smith to Adrian Peterson makes sense. He's the guy I thought of too. Where this guy as true freshman is immediately the best player on the team and maybe in the country. This is a random aside but he basically says Moss was better than Terrell Owens and I just firmly disagree on that. I think TO was a better all around receiver than Moss and TO is now underrated b/c people don't like him

It was bad enough running up the middle directly at tun's only strength, d tackle, but Treyveon, who had a great career and has obvious strengths, I don't you think you'd say running up the middle and banging out tough yards is one of them. That's what made Zeke so great---he could break big runs but was also great getting tough yards inside on 3rd and 3

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

Sorry to be repetitive, but the main thing that's pissing me off about this whole situation currently is that the charges appear to be all about "aggravated failure to monitor" rather than LOIC, when this seems like a textbook case of LOIC.
I believe the penalty structure for both FTM and LOIC are similar. This is the NCAA playing it safe. But don't despair brother because the rumors are that there is another possible NOA that will absolutely bring in the LOIC. Fingers crossed ....

Tate had a strong second half of 2024, and is poised for a bigger role in 2025.

From now until preseason camp starts later this week, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about the things we need to get off our chests before the season starts; the things we need to get on the record. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our ”On the Record” articles here.

Carnell Tate is going to rocket up NFL Draft boards this season. He’s ready for a substantially bigger role in the Buckeyes’ offense, and he’s poised to put up huge numbers with his increased role.

In 2024, the Chicago native hauled in 52 receptions for 733 yards and four touchdowns. Of those 52 receptions, 31 came in the Buckeyes last eight games, including the four games in the College Football Playoff.

That momentum is palpable going into the 2025 season, where Tate will be Ohio State’s WR2 on the field. With Emeka Egbuka now in the NFL, Tate will slide into his role and have the opportunity to post numbers similar to, if not better than, Egbuka.

Tate had at least 50 yards receiving in a game nine times in 2024 . That’s really good, considering he was playing behind Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith. It’s a sign that the third-year receiver can up his receiving yardage to 1,000 yards this season.

The Buckeyes are guaranteed 12 games this season. If Tate is going to eclipse 1,000 yards, he needs to average 83.3 yards per game. As the No. 2 wide receiver on this team, that’s very doable. Considering Smith is going to get all the attention from opposing defenses, Tate will have ample target opportunities to best his 45.8 receiving yards per game from a year ago.

Last year, as Ohio State’s No. 2 wide receiver, Egbuka had 81 receptions for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns. There’s no reason Tate can’t have that kind of season in 2025.

The talent and work ethic are there for Tate. He’s come a long way through his first three seasons with the Buckeyes, a program known for developing elite wide receiver talent. Even with Smith as the best offensive player in the country, Tate will have his chances to prove he is an elite wide receiver in his own right.

Are there a lot of mouths to feed on this offense? Yes. However, that doesn’t mean Tate can’t reach these lofty expectations.

Ohio State is going to play at least 14 or 15 games this season, and the Buckeyes can very easily play 16 or 17 games en route to playing for a national championship. If Tate is on the field in that many games, he will smash 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns.

This season could produce Ohio State’s deepest receiving corps in years. Tate will be near the top of Ohio State’s treasure trove of pass-catching talent, behind only Smith. As long as Julian Sayin is as good as Buckeyes fans are hoping he is, Tate will have a huge third season and earn himself a spot atop NFL Draft boards as the Buckeyes chase a repeat title.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

No I disagree. They were legit good in 2022 and 2023. Elite? No. Good? Very.

The problem I have is 2022 and 2023 were built on the back of 2021 which was not a good team but they had a very easy schedule that year and then cheated their way through the games where they typically lost (namely our game). That 2021 season is what got them confidence, gained momentum in recruiting, donors, and especially got them a few key transfers (not to mention convinced kids to come back).

Who stays for a final year if they’re just mediocre? Who transfers to a program who isn’t on the verge of the playoffs?

What their cheating did was it got them off the mat of that 2020 season. They were finished. Completely finished and yet 2021 turned it all around.

So I’ll at least admit that I don’t think they needed the signs (particularly in 2023) after a certain point but they still used the signs and now they’ll pay that price.

Yea. They probably finish the regular season 8-4 or 7-5 in 2021 without the cheating and maybe Harbaugh gets sacked after that.

You're right the damage had already been done by 2023. I think they did benefit greatly from the usual players being very meh though, that's what really boosted them to the title in the end in context of that season. It's laughable that with all the cheating it took 3 tries and some luck to finally get it. If Ohio State, UGA, Bama were running the same scheme they'd be cartoonishly dominant

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

I'm catching up on the latest 11W thread. At one point somebody referenced how they always play the victim card....and referenced that time we got voted to go to the Rose Bowl instead of them.

First of all.....that documentary is WILD. I've posted this on BP before, but as a kid when my dad would tell me about "the vote", it was in the context of "Michigan got screwed". And that's how Michigan tells the story......THEY got screwed. Something was taken from them that was rightfully theirs. Then I saw the doc. WTF? It's not like a rule was broken. It's not like a tie breaker was applied incorrectly. Two teams had the same record, and they tied when they played head to head. Somebody was going to lose that theoretical coin toss. But of course they were victimized by this whole thing. I wonder if that's what started their victim mentality. Who knows. Anyway.......

It's starting to make sense to me why, when the Tressel stuff happened, Ohio State responded the way they did. And why that's the opposite to how Michigan is responding to this. Fired a coach, shined the light on the program, healed, came out even stronger. That seems like a pretty good blueprint to how to handle getting caught cheating. Which.....let's all remind ourselves.....is what we did.

But no. They've dug in at every turn. They told their coaches to disappear when the NCAA came knocking at the door. They've told their state media to parrot the same bullshit lies. They have seemingly psychotic former board members ranting about binders and pedophiles and lies about Ryan Day's brother. They've illegally ignored FOIA requests.

There's a few people on 11W guessing the punishments will be light based on the way they've handled this whole thing. It's a sound theory. Why would you make things harder on yourself and then act like nothing bad is coming unless you know nothing bad is coming. But I'm starting to realize..... they're responding the way they are because they WANT to play the victim card. It's so much easier to cry about over reach if you intentionally force the NCAA to punish you harder. They're choosing this path, because they like crying about being wronged. It's just a tiny step below being actually good.....and infinitely easier.

Georgia Bulldogs (2021-2022 National Champions & Excellent Drivers)

For those seeking a better understanding, Buford has been the most dominant football program in the state of Georgia for the past 20 years.

During that same span they’ve won 10 state titles (across different divisions as the school grew in size and moved up in classification)

Graduates include Darius Walker, PK Sam, Tim Wansley, Robert Nkemdiche, Dylan Riola, CJ Bolden…etc

Pair that with the fact that this area is exploding and growth and money and it’s easy to see how they funded this

Cincinnati Reds (2025 is our year! Haha thats actually funny)

Acquiring Zach Littel from TB

That should move Martinez to the pen (or use both guys as swing man/same diff) and then (hopefully) Burns to pen when Greene comes back.

So from where I sit they "added: a bat by putting Marte in RF and "added" two bullpen arms by getting Littel and making the Martinez/Burns moves.

Now go get one more bat, preferably Kwan and put Austin Hays at DH, or go get a DH and leave Hays in LF.

Get rid of one of the Fraley/Benson/Lux trio and I think they've actually improved the club quite a bit. If they don't get another bat then I'm a lot less into what they have done so far although I don't hate having K Hayes for the next few years.

2027 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

11W Forums

A deep Ohio EDGE class is coming in 2027, which could allow us to stay patient in 2026.
ON3 just jumped Columbus Academy’s Reinaldo Perez to #101 overall.

Perez would be just the second blue chip EDGE to come out of Columbus since Jack Sawyer six years ago.
teeedawg 27 Jul 2025, 11:02 pm
Cincinnati EDGE Antoine Higgins is the other national recruit to keep an eye on in 2027.

Already has offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, and Notre Dame.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

Without the cheating, they would have been 8-5 to 10-3 every year from 2021-23, just like every Cheatin' Jim team before them. They know it. They just cannot, in their treacherous hearts, bring themselves to admit it. Every other CFB fan outside the dfbia looks down their nose at them and knows that championship* was fugazi.
No I disagree. They were legit good in 2022 and 2023. Elite? No. Good? Very.

Regarding their championship; they stopped a decent Alabama drive at the goal line that would have given Bama the win. I can't remember the exact play but I believe someone stumbled, or a blocker took the wrong read and the run just sort of punked out a foot or two short of the goal. I justrecall it as being a very un-Sabanesque play. The next game against Washington would have been an easy win for Saban.
