Game Thread #1 Texas at #2/#3 tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, 12pm ET, FOX

While reading Lindy's reports, appears that Texas's O will be practically new, and tOSU's D will be practically new. That should be an interesting match-up. Certainly Texas will be returning, much as tOSU will, talented players, albeit inexperienced as well. Have to give the edge to Texas in the QB department, mostly because Manning has a year more experience in the college game. Recollect that Manning played against us in the BCS, and had a nice play or two, against our more veteran DL that tOSU will have for this game. Cannot see a runaway for either side, guessing game will hinge on a turnover or two. Regardless, will be an early season battle of heavyweights, and as several pundits have noted, could be a foretelling of another playoff game. Will still be a fun game to watch, and key (for me at least), will be how well tOSU responds to whichever QB is under center. Texas is advantaged, as Manning has been declared the starter already (and don't believe Sarkesian has enough guile to do any switcher-oonie stuff).
It’s about matchups.

Like you point out Texas has almost a completely new OL and they’re going against an OSU DL that lost everyone too. That said, I think with the addition of Atkinson we’ll have a slight advantage there. Especially considering they aren’t going to be aware of what we are going to be on defense as far as personnel and the way we pressure etc. Shoot we don’t even know what we’ll look like.

Also Texas DL vs our OL is a good matchup too. We return 4 starters and Texas returns I think 2. So I think we’ll have the slight edge there too.

The biggest mismatch I think will be our skill vs their secondary. They lost their best corner and their best safety and they’re going against one of the deepest WR rooms we’ve ever had. You add Klare to that mix as well and I think that’s the most lopsided matchup in this entire game.

Texas did a great job taking away JJ but the coaches I’d imagine have been watching that film now for 7 months to come up with a plan to counter it. Even so, I don’t think they’re stopping JJ again and if they can’t do that they’re going to have big issues stopping the others too.

Early thought is OSU 34 and Texas 24

Cleveland Guardians (2025 Season Thread)

Glad to see Kwan still with the club. He’ll get a roaring ovation at tomorrow night’s game. Bummed about Bieber, but I get it. He was on the block in Francona’s last season, and frankly would have ended up there too last year had he not gotten hurt. The young gun they got in return is 9-1 with less than a 2.50 ERA at AA and throws mid 90s gas. I’ll take it.
