Speaking of awful pitching they are currently losing 11-10 in the 6th. Maryland has hit 5 HR. With even just bare minimum average pitching they are easily winning this game

Yea the program was a hot dumpster fire when Haire took over that's for sure, there was no overnight fix here.

The problem remains that the pitching is still pretty awful, it's "not as awful" as last year but it's still a far cry from even being average. Haire is gonna really have to come up with something to really improve there if he's going to win here.

Just sayin': I saw somewhere that Penn State does spend ≈ $1.5M NIL on wrestling.: which has to be far less than they spend on football. As long as nobody else is outspending them I suspect that their continued "dominance" will keep attracting the top wrestlers.

Cael Sanderson says this era of college sports will "be an advantage" for Nittany Lions wrestling.

This really wasn't what college wrestling coaches wanted to hear. After No. 1 Penn State overwhelmed Ohio State 36-5 to clinch its sixth straight unbeaten Big Ten season, coach Cael Sanderson said his team might be getting better because of NIL and revenue sharing. Even if his staff doesn't outbid other programs for talent.

"We have a great team," Sanderson said after Penn State won its NCAA-record 85th consecutive match. "Our culture, the friendship and the camaraderie, I don't think it's ever been anything as close to what we have right now. I think a lot of that has to do with all the changes in college athletics, and the kids are coming here because they want to be here and they want to be part of something special."

The top-ranked Penn State wrestling team has another "something special" season brewing. The Nittany Lions finished their Big Ten campaign 8-0 and with some truly dominant numbers. Penn State outscored conference opponents by a combined total of 328-23, beating second-ranked Ohio State by 31 points, fifth-ranked Iowa by 29 and sixth-ranked Nebraska by 14.

The Nittany Lions shut out four Big Ten opponents, and no team won more than three bouts against them. Ohio State and Iowa won one apiece. Penn State's lineup went a combined 74-6 against Big Ten opponents for a winning percentage of 92.5 percent. Its average Big Ten margin of victory was 38.1 points.

Penn State even outpaced its Big Ten supremacy of last season. The Nittany Lions went a combined 67-13 in individual conference bouts during the 2024-25 season, when they broke their own NCAA tournament scoring record.

Four Nittany Lions went 8-0 in conference duals last season. This year, seven Penn State wrestlers were 8-0 against the Big Ten.

Penn State set the NCAA Tournament scoring record in 2024, broke it in 2025 and has a tremendous opportunity to break it again this season. Seven Nittany Lions are unbeaten and ranked first or second at their respective weight classes, according to InterMat Wrestling.

Nine Penn State wrestlers rank among the top six, and the team enters its regular-season finale against Princeton with a combined dual-meet record of 129-11. With a win over Princeton, the Nittany Lions would complete their sixth straight unbeaten season under Sanderson and 10th in 17 seasons.

.500 is not exactly good but it would be a huge step up from last year (13-37) if that's how they finished.

They are currently .500 in B1G play but they haven't exactly "cleaned up" in the mid week game with losses to Xavier Kent State and wright State

Back to Stanford. It appears to me that the sports that got cut were NOT Director's Cup point-getters. Could have missed one, but hey! All the Stanford AD has to do is send out notices to the Venture Capitalist up on I-270, and their pocket change could fund all 11. PS, football is the lowest of the sports ranked at Stanford. Yeah, kinda question tOSU being 4th in the final rankings. But synchro is the most dominant sport at The Ohio State University, by at least ten miles.

Thanks for that write up. Saw most, remember less. Do still have burned in my skull, the two losses to Cincinnati. Paul Hogue (he of coke bottle glasses), and Moe Thacker took apart Jerry, Hondo, Mel, Larry twice.....probably spawned the lack of scheduling between the two schools for several decades.

Was thinking that Thompson wouldn't start from the jump, but who knows. Going from HS to college is a big leap, but not saying he wouldn't make it, in that the Dance had a healthy number of frosh in the line-ups. Let's hope. We'll see in the offseason whether the Baylor kid is healthy enough to play, as the Croatian got better, but don't see him as a starter. Ergo, if Diebs goes for an expensive C, then might clear up a bit. PG will be his focus, as Cupps doesn't seem to want to shoot (unless he had a muzzle on), but all comes down to NIL $, Bjork is willing to shell out. Do so hate to see Devin skedaddle, but with his last go-round, his minutes will decrease, makes sense he'd want to be a starter for some program, although he'd be all- B10 as a sixth man. Anyway, hope we can watch this re-build unfold...Go Bucks!

Wow! Concisely put. McDuff seems to be able to recruit top-of-the-line backcourt talent, Jacy, Jaloni, etc. but he falls down terribly on front court talent. After watching the women's Dance this year, agree that Elsa, while serviceable, and did in fact grow this year, needs some development and some back-up that are more than placeholders. Don't know if the team faltered because they were winded, as McDuff plays with a very shortened bench. When some of the bench players got in, they played adequately. Kitt especially, but as we know, McDuff plays a small, quick group of guards, plus one person designed to act as a screener, and a convenient pass catcher. Elsa needs to learn how to play facing the basket, as too many times, she was looking for someone to pass to, and she was standing AT the foul line! while the defender was deep in the paint, knowing she wasn't going to 1) shoot, or 2) drive.

The rankings could take quite a beating on that day. Oregon has become the thorn in the Buckeye's side these days. Hate that they can 'rent' Ohio players to suit up up there. But guess Nike dollars are like petro dollars. Anyway, might be a #1 v #2 on that Saturday. If still lived on the West coast, might be worth the trip, but don't so won't.

Losing Raiola will give them a personal 'edge' like no one's business. Whether the talent is there to back it up is questionable. Now really in the 'know' to know whether they gained more talent in the portal than they lost. So regardless, their first team might give a fight, their two's won't be in the same league as the Buckeyes, so color this a win for the good guys. 48-14.

One thing you can bet on, UT will have the best team money can buy. Whether they perform like that, kinda up in the air. PS, seem to recollect that tOSU was in the 'hunt' for Brandon Baker, but got outbid by the Longhorns. Anyone know definitively how well he's doing? Or is it a 'whew' that he went to Texas (a la Felix Ojo)? Anyway, I get a bang out of seeing which 'next best things' that was/were going to tOSU find out who cratered, and contrarywise, cringe when look at the pre-season mags and see someone tOSU went after on the ratings lists.....
