Ohio State is making some early impressions in the 2027 class.

The Buckeyes are back!

With the start of training camp today, it’s the official start of the 2025 campaign. In one way or another it’s felt like a long offseason at times, but regardless the national champions are back on the field looking to attack another title.

There will be plenty of headlines to follow how this team is looking, so recruiting should start to quiet down a bit. While this 2026 class has spots to fill and 2027 is really becoming a priority for the staff, news will slow. Even so, this staff never stops recruiting entirely, so the work and efforts will be put in behind the scenes.

2027 edge rusher keeping the Buckeyes a priority

A position talked about time and time again, the Buckeyes continue to pursue edge rushers heavily in the 2027 class. Doing their best to be in the mix for as many top players as possible, this staff seems to be set in changing their ways of the last couple of cycles when it comes to landing their top targets, and that would be a welcomed change.

There’s no excuse for Ohio State to not land the best of the best at a premium position, and the staff is hoping 2027 goes off without a hitch. On their way to success with another player, the Buckeyes saw their name kept in the fold when Utah native Krew Jones gave a list of schools he is focusing on Wednesday.

A 6-foot-5, 233 pound athlete, Jones is the No. 138 player nationally and the 18th best edge rusher in the class per the 247Sports Composite. Holding nearly 30 offers to his name, focusing mainly on seven schools shows he’s willing to narrow things down a bit and really hone in on the best fit for the next level.

Speaking to Adam Gorney of Rivals, Jones is leaning towards BYU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, USC, and Ohio State. From here, the Buckeyes will surely keep the relationship growing best they can if they want to have a real shot. At the very least, it’s another highly-touted player at the position who has real interest in all that Ohio State has to offer.

Top list emerges for 2027 4-star EDGE Krew Jones, per @adamgorney

“I’m still kind of open, but those are the schools where I’m leaning.”

Quick Hits

  • There are plenty of players the Buckeyes are targeting in the 2027 class at this spot, as offensive tackle is a major need in every recruiting cycle. No surprise to see several offers already dished out, position coach Tyler Bowen clearly believes in the strategy of offering more guys than not.

Only helping the program’s chances of landing guys that immediately help with depth, one to certainly keep an eye on is Texas native, Qua Ford. The No. 56 player nationally and sixth best at his position per the 247Sports Composite, Ford has the Buckeyes as a player in his recruitment early on. With more names sure to follow as potential additions, Ford is a can’t-miss type of recruit you do the work for and hope it pays off.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

At first it was Connor saying scUM was

- better in the trenches
- better to run fits
- better tackling.

- now he admits they had all the signals.

Apart from the tackling, the first two are absolutely fixed by know the offenses play structure in advance.

This leads me to a further point I have yet to see any Buckeye media bring up and any UM media attempt to answer; if Connor Stallions was elite at what he did, the best at his job, and that put scUM over the top - of what use was Harbaugh then?
Somebody had to eat the boogers for the cameras ….

This is a great opportunity to revisit.
Initially, there was a ton of speculation around the idea that "if that's the minimum acceptable, how much worse could it get?" Many aspects of the framework as reported are squarely in line with the prescribed core penalties (i.e. the core penalty for aggravated FTM is a 1-3 year postseason ban). Alteration of records has always been what seemed to catch folks up, as most incorrectly believe that records are only vacated for ineligible student athletes. The COI has broad freedoms in applying punishments that exist within the sanction structure as they see appropriate.
I think - and this is an informed assumption at this point - is that the motivation for UM to have settled within the framework would have been more with timing and less with holding out for less severe sanctions. Had they accepted around the time things were first presented one year ago this week, their punishments could be wrapping up after this season.
While each COI panel is different, there has been a noticeable emphasis in decisions over the past year or so on self-reporting, cooperation, and reaching negotiated agreements. And, as we've seen, vacation of records is a very routine sanction in decisions.
It's interesting to hear Spiro tonight talk about the radical mood shift up north in the last 36 hours or so, a strong "sense of impending doom." He said that today, staffers were given initial coaching on not responding to media requests or commenting publicly once things were released.
I was texting with Intrinsic today on a few topics, and shared with him that my source said this morning that they (UM) were "operating under the assumption that an infractions decision and case summary are imminent" but that they weren't in the notification window yet.
A compliance attorney told me that this week would "be the target" given the ramp up to this season and the impact on UM's staff.
It's unavoidable. They are expecting it any moment.
Their insiders have cued up their red meat greatest hits of Ryan Day's brother, their most public booster is melting down in a seemingly-drunken rage of conspiracy theories and poor grammar, and their golden boy / pariah can't stop defending all the things he "didn't do" on Twitter. They aren't comfortable. They're squirming.
And THE world-famous Ohio State Buckeyes are the defending National Champions.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

What helped put them over the top as well was they also lucked into a season where all the other usual contenders were having a "down year". That coupled with the obvious cheating "put them over the top"

Even if they woulda beat TCU in that semi final the year before they more than likely lose to UGA in the title game.

It took a elaborate cheating scheme and a season where the usual powers were bleh by usual standard for them to "finally win"

You'd think knowing exactly what the opponent is doing would make you historically dominant. They were not that. They were easily the weakest champ of the 4 team era
Without the cheating, they would have been 8-5 to 10-3 every year from 2021-23, just like every Cheatin' Jim team before them. They know it. They just cannot, in their treacherous hearts, bring themselves to admit it. Every other CFB fan outside the dfbia looks down their nose at them and knows that championship* was fugazi.

True story. I got the wrestling buddy the Christmas after my parents divorced. Being the man of the house i tried to keep up on maintenance lol. The only thing I really knew how to do was spray door hinges with WD40. Got yelled at for using kitchen towels to catch the drips so I started using my macho man. Mom noticed my room smelled like wd40. Finds macho man soaked with the shit. Thinks im huffing it lmao. I come home from playing basketball and both my parents are in the living room. Not good. They haven't been getting along. They proceed to read me the riot act. I finally get thru to them that im not a 9 year old WD40 addict
Can we get AI to do this narrative in Morgan Freemans voice? "That was the longest night of macho mans life."
