Odds are that the Buckeyes will miss out on at least one of the above targets, and a de-commitment or two is always possible. On the other hand, the Buckeyes are also in the running for several other top prospects whom I did not include above (CB Tyson Campbell; OT Nicholas Petit-Frere; LB Solomon Tuliaupupu; DB Houston Griffith; DT Nesta Silvera; and LB Michael Harris to name a few).

If the Buckeyes signed the 25-man class above, it would have a class ranking of 323.35, which would just miss being the best of all time (Florida's Class of 2010 had a ranking of 323.66).

The average star ranking would be: 4.16

The average player ranking would be: .9511

Not too bad :biggrin2:

Not sign a single TE? Hard to imagine. Also, I just don't see all the DE's listed being part of the class. And I can see just 2 WRs.

I don't see Oweh. A lot of talent, but we are bringing in a huge DL pull, and we've got other positions of need. So I'd pencil in Ruckert instead (100% CB'd to the good guys). I hate to say it, but I see a decommit in the future. Don't know who, but someone probably will. Just the nature of the beast. Tyson Campbell is also out there as a potential pull, and if he wants in, he's taking someone's spot. Other than that, it's hard for me NOT to see ALL of those guys in the class. How insane is that?

Well, I just imagined it and it wasn't all that difficult.

I don't see Jeremy Ruckert as being part of this class and the staff doesn't seem to be pursuing any other targets all that much. Maybe L'Christian Smith grows into the TE position. You got any other names for me?

Also, I just don't see all the DE's listed being part of the class.
Well, Cox and Chatfield are already committed. Parsons is a top-10 prospect so you don't say "no" to him. Tyreke Smith is a local kid and I have to believe that he has an OFFER. The staff really loves Oweh's potential so he'd probably be a TAKE as well.

And I can see just 2 WRs.
I have three listed - Kamryn Babb, L'Christian Smith, and Cameron Brown.

Personally, I'd like to see another OT, another DT or two, and another LB, but there's only so much room in the class.

Ohio State's got one of them "good problems" on their hands right now - too many top prospects want to sign with the Buckeyes. Just compare our situation with Michigan, where there is a complete lack of recruiting "buzz". Sure there's a long way until signing day, but Michigan has a so-so class to this point and they just aren't in the mix for many top prospects. Is Harbaugh's act wearing thin already?

OSU brought in 3 TEs a year ago, with a young Berry possibly switching back to TE, I can hear what you're saying and could realistically see OSU waiting another year to get a TE.

Cox, Parsons and Oweh are the only true DEs I saw on your list. as I'm starting to envision Smith as a DT/3 tech, and Chatfield more of an OLB/DE hybrid.
Your list makes sense and is very realistic. But out of the honorable mention guys you have, I only see Harris, Griffith, Campbell and Tuliapupu as having the best shots.

TOTALLY agree on the need for 3 OTs in the class...........I have been pounding the table on that one for a while (and I do hope Pantoni, Urban and Stud are listening) so I would much rather see 2 interior guys of Juice and Jones and drop Brown. If Jones is a DT so what. We have some good interior guys already in the fold and it's easier to move an OT to the inside anyway. With Happy Jamarco gone soon and NOTHING proven behind him that's scary.

I still see JR as the only TE we chase...........and we land him. And that results in 2 WRs taken. Babb and L'Christian Scarlet.

The hard 25 cap definitely makes things interesting this year.

I, like many, assume Ruckert will be in this class - but the question becomes, who do you drop from the list to make room for him? I could see him taking a WR spot, assuming Babb is in.

Baugh is leaving.

Berry is on his third position. Not sure he's probable to stick long term. Either way, I would bet on at least one of the TEs being gone by 2019 if not next spring.

TE is not the hardest spot to find talent, and they could likely flip Gillison in the unlikely event of losing Rucker and failing to secure one of their late gems/steals on the national stage.

I could see the 2018 securing a TE, but I could also see the small chance that they don't. True, Berry is on yet another position. But OSU still has Farrell, Hausman AND Hawkins, not to mention Alexander. Thats a lot of players for a position that rarely gets the ball consistently.
And like stated above, if OSU doesn't get Ruckert, Sheffer can easily be next in line

First off, this chart is freaking awesome. Please keep doing this. Second, I do think Ruckert is all but "IN" at this point and is one of those guys that is so talented, you take him in about any class...plus I do think there is a need with Baugh leaving, no TE in the last class and the Alexander injury. Not sure who I can take off that list to get us to 25 with Ruckert being in other than a de-commitment or maybe Cameron Brown, but I do think Ruckert will sign with the good guys barring a huge change. Also a toss-up on Oweh, but I do agree with your assessment that the staff views him as a "TAKE" right now and we made a lot of headway in the last visit...tons and tons of potential and I hope we can fit him in this class, as I think he has 1st round potential all over him if he has the right coaching (see LJ Sr). Final comment would be that I think the staff is pushing hard to bring in the Chatfield/Campbell/Silvera trifecta...I like all of them but I think we find room for Campbell at the very least, as he is at the top of my board (and apparently the staff's) at the DB position.
