2018 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

A PAIR OF JUNE CAMP OFFERS SHOULD ADD EVEN MORE INTRIGUE TO OHIO STATE'S 2018 RECRUITING EFFORTS

Camp season brings some potential changes to 2018 recruiting.

The summer camp circuit is always interesting at Ohio State. The coaching staff puts so much value into seeing players live and in person, and if a prospect is good enough to earn an offer at that point, then it's a safe bet that the Buckeyes may really want that particular prospect.

Last night, my esteemed colleague took a look at some of the more noteworthy names that were in attendance. While he didn't take part in drills, top wide receiver target Kamryn Babb was probably the headliner of the group. But it was a pair of new 2018 offers that could have the most impact on Urban Meyer's latest and perhaps greatest recruiting class.

COMMIT WATCH: TOP PROSPECTS NEARING DECISIONS AS OHIO STATE'S FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS CAMP FAST APPROACHES

It's an exciting time in the world of Ohio State football recruiting.

Camp season is well underway and next month brings with it two of the more important recruiting events of the year. Nike's The Opening will once again have a distinct Buckeye flavor as numerous commits and targets flock to Oregon for the camp and festivities. Ohio State's Friday Night Lights will bring its own share of excitement on July 21.

Urban Meyer's No. 2-ranked recruiting class features 13 commitments which already includes a trio of five-star prospects. With a number of targets nearing decisions, we certainly expect that number to change over the next six weeks.

Here's a look at the ones to watch most closely as the summer rolls on.

Odds are that the Buckeyes will miss out on at least one of the above targets, and a de-commitment or two is always possible. On the other hand, the Buckeyes are also in the running for several other top prospects whom I did not include above (CB Tyson Campbell; OT Nicholas Petit-Frere; LB Solomon Tuliaupupu; DB Houston Griffith; DT Nesta Silvera; and LB Michael Harris to name a few).

If the Buckeyes signed the 25-man class above, it would have a class ranking of 323.35, which would just miss being the best of all time (Florida's Class of 2010 had a ranking of 323.66).

The average star ranking would be: 4.16

The average player ranking would be: .9511

Not too bad :biggrin2:
