tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I know the general consensus is to sign 2 QB's in this class, mainly due to the fact that one of them is a boom or bust candidate in Gibson. But what if he comes up for FNL and impresses the coaches with his arm? Would you still want another QB (like a Wimbush or Nunez) to hedge your bets, or would we go all in on Gibson?

If Gibson has a great summer at camps at performs well at FNL in front of the coaches, I'm fine with taking just him and having our staff mold him into a more complete QB without denying his athleticism(like they've been doing with Braxton). Gibson is a perfect match for our offense.

Also here's LGHL look at 2015 top targets for OSU. If we can even get half of these guys our class would be set up very nicely.

According to 247Sports, the Buckeyes have offered scholarships to 34 players from the state of Florida. The next most offers they've extended is to 13 players in the state of Texas, followed by 10 in Georgia, and only 6 in the state of Ohio.

Not only is Ohio State offering more players from the state of Florida (only offered 31 last year), a lot of these recruits receiving the offers are reciprocating the interest, particularly offensive players, who all relish the thought of playing in Urban Meyer's spread offense.

I just want to make clear that I have nothing against anyone who spends time obsessively tracking and summarizing Ohio State recruiting for other people. I've done it myself in the past while always trying to give proper credit to the people actually providing the information I was summarizing (usually BP).

However, when you try to take simple summarization and a few scoops here and there and try to package it like something more substantial (BONAFIDES!); and worst of all you do things like rush to announce Jalyn Holmes' commitment in a desperate attempt to prove you have scoops (amongst many, many other questinable, obnoxious actions), that is what I have a big problem with.

The whole atmosphere at Bucknuts is really strange and driven by a few people that I find pretty repulsive, but I honestly don't think Kurelic would be that bad if he got to work with other people on another site.

Like I said, it's really too bad 247 can't find another Buckeye affiliate because the parent organization is on the cutting edge of a lot of recruiting based services.

So many kids from Florida grew up watching Urban and looking up to Urban and those UF programs. It works very well in our favor as far as interest, and let's all hope that turns into kids coming north and becoming Buckeyes. Many of these HSers grew up wanting to be Percy harvin, janoris Jenkins, joe Haden, Chris Rainey, Tim tebow, Brandon spikes, carlos Dunlap, etc. Makes me feel kind of old when these kids were middle schoolers when urban won his last NC with UF

Thoughts on Terry Beckner Jr joining the class? A few other sites have been discussing him as a real possibility and 247 is high on the Buckeyes chances. I haven't heard his name mentioned much around here but I would love for him to be in this class.

Not sure where to put this as it pertains to our 2014 and 2015 classes.

http://ohiostate.247sports.com/Article/Mr-Bs-Big-Recruiting-Idea-10K-176448

The best parts are Hoke being inducted into his HS alma mater's hall of fame, and the band playing OSU's fight song, lol
And also Mr. B putting out a $10,000 bet on if someone can predict the 2015 class and get closer than him...

Most lists will ben similar to this one. Wad had a more complete list a few pages back, and had most of these names. Its so early its going to be fun to see new names emerge as coaches pick their favorites by region and narrow them down

His thread was locked for a reason. Do not turn the 2015 tOSU Recruiting Discussion thread in to a thread about Jayru Campbell. If you have an important update that you think should be posted in his thread, please PM it to a mod & it will be posted.

Seems like the 2015 class' first priority is gaining quality depth, as opposed to the 2014 class which had to fill specific holes and specific positions were focused on more heavily than others(I.e. LB, OL, DB). The staff seems to want 2 QBs, 2 TEs, and possibly 2 TEs, and a large number of O and D lineman.

4 Tight Ends?! Holy overkill, Batman. :biggrin2:

I assume one of those you meant to put RB's. Which I agree with.
