tOSU Recruiting Discussion

http://ohiostate.247sports.com/Season/2015-Football/Offers

There's some really good talent in Ohio this year. It seems the staff has given out more instate offers than woth urban in last classes. Between Jerome baker, justin hilliard, Eric Glover Williams, Shaun Crawford, Nick Conner, LJ Scott, the Dowell twins, cj conrad, etc, ohio has a heck of a class for 2015. Half of the names mentioned have offers already. I expect even more pillaging of guys urban decides against by schools like UK and Tennessee as the other Big 10 coaches rather pick their noses than recruit. Its a pretty deep and talented in state class.

Are there any high end (at this early junture) offensive or defensive tackles in state, that ?
I posit if Conrad is vaible he will be offered as TE might be the biggest need.

The default probelm with ranking kids by the number of offers is that many of the truly elite prospects won't get offers from podunk schools who know an offer is just a waste of time. The kid with the most offers (51) is Deion Hallmon, who is a 3-star CB, ranked #133 at that position by Scout, whereas Raekwon McMillan is a 5-star LB (and the top LB in the entire country) and has less than half the number of offers (23).

A good point as well. Just thought it was interesting, not necessarily valid.

I definitely agree but its fun to troll your less recruiting savvy friends (who happen to by aggy/SEC fans) with this information...

Not sure if anyone here has enough bonafides to answer
Bonafides means you just make things completely up while not really saying anything at all (Jones to MSU! But don't be surprised if he's OSU!) and then claim you knew it all along, right?

It takes a TRUE insider to figure out a kids top 4 teams and let people know they might go to one of those schools, or someplace else.

It looks like Justin Hilliard is leaning towards ND, Michigan, Ohio State or some other team in the Midwest right now. But don't be surprised if an SEC school or someone out west like USC makes a move. He's becoming a true national prospect that I am confident will go to the school I just predicted.

BONAFIDES!

I know the general consensus is to sign 2 QB's in this class, mainly due to the fact that one of them is a boom or bust candidate in Gibson. But what if he comes up for FNL and impresses the coaches with his arm? Would you still want another QB (like a Wimbush or Nunez) to hedge your bets, or would we go all in on Gibson?

And for the record, "out West" includes the Big 12 and "SEC school" includes the entire East coast and all Florida schools.

Whoa. No offense @wadc45, but from here on out, I stand with @Buckeye86. When you got bonafides, you got my attention.

Personally I am fine with one QB as long as it is one of those top guys. I am one who thinks you take one QB a yeear, alternating an elite guy and a project. Then you will typically have 4 guys, so if your starter goes you you get to play either a young stud or an experienced but less talented player. Taking two studs to me sounds like trouble. Know who your starter is, because if you dont know by July hen they split time in practice and that helps no one. I am all for young guys chellenging the older guys in every position but QB. They need to KNOW they are the leader of the team.

I look forward to making many worthless 50/50 predictions and summarizing common (or plagiarizing pay wall) knowledge like it is somehow my own unique insight into a recruiting situation.

Are you gonna cut your own hair too?

@BUCKYLE Let's just agree that @Buckeye86 is "The Dean" of BP.
Of course.

@jlb1705 said when my daughter gets older I have dibs on the "Suzan Z" of Buckeyeplanet.
