tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I see Campbell as a RB. We have the full 85 this cycle but that doesn't necessarily mean a larger class than the last few. As long as we continue to load up the O Line and we have a few true safety's it doesn't matter to me.

I agree and personally see Campbell as a RB also, but he can easily play the pivot as well. I put more of a premium on O and D line and DBs in general, but the amount of high end talent at RB that is interested in OSU is a big deal. And I'm sure the staff isn't overlooking that.

I think we take 2 RBs in 2015 if it is the right two. No way you turn down any of Jamabo (personally my favorite), Patrick (a close second), Weber (a close third), or Harris (take it back, he is my favorite but I just remembered him). Even beyond those guys, there are some really good backs that I would hate to turn down but I really think we can get 2 of those 4.

Like LJ Scott if he gets his grades in order?

Personally I think we take two true RBs next class.

We didn't take any this class (though Samuel or Campbell could end up being RBs but right now they're WR/flex).

We look like we could easily land two top flight RBs too. Are very much in it for Harris now. Scott would probably commit once offered. If Patrick leaves Florida it's likely here. The Mitchells will help with Jamabo. And we are probably second to MSU for Weber. Thats not even counting guys like Neatrece Strong who we haven't recruited hard yet but could eventually, or Taj Griffin who consistently mentions us in his top 3 (with UGA and Oregon). Though with Griffin I don't think we have a chance unless he visits.

And I didn't even mention Jerome Baker. Most like him at LB but OSU has told him they're recruiting him for offense right now.

I think Campbell will start as more of RB and may ad some slot role as he learns the playbook, he is very young for a freshman in college and is still growing.

My top 5 wants at RB are (in order)
Jacques patrick
Damien Harris
Sosa jamabo
mike weber
chris warren (a name few have mentioned in a while because he's coming off of injury, but is easily one of the best in the nation when healthy, looks like a young Beenie wells)

If we can get 1 of those guys, let alone 2 we should he ecstatic. And those are just my personal 5, we have a number of very very good RBs on our radar(LJ scott, Bryce love, Andre Robinson etc), and its very early for the 2015 class. So many new names could emerge in the next few months as well. I see 2 true RBs with the coaches trying to figure out what they want to do with Campbell and possibly Samuel

Honestly, that is the exact same order if my list except maybe Andre Robinson for Warren. But yeah, I would be ecstatic with anyone off that list.

Robinson looks like an excellent prospect too and is probably a more realistic commit than warren, but warrens size abd speed made him more special to me. But Robinson has a sick film. I had the first list of 5 in one category, then guys like Robinson, LJ Scott, Bryce love, Taj griffin, and a few other early offer guys in another second tier category (not saying they're mot good in their own right, but the first 5 are high ranked nationally). Imo, getting one from each category would be pretty realistic amd an awesome RB class. Landing 2 from the first list would be a grand slam home run, but quite unrealistic. Landing 2 from the second list would be a very good haul as well but landing a player the caliber of jamabo would be incredible.

The Buckeyes are also doubling down on efforts to mine the East Coast, reflected in the hire of Johnson as defensive line coach. Johnson was named by Rivals the national recruiter of the year in 2006, particularly for the inroads he made in Washington, D.C., and Maryland, where he was a high school coach before joining the late Joe Paterno's staff in 1996.

"He gives [OSU] Penn State's top recruiter, which is shocking to me," Lemming said. "[New Penn State coach James Franklin] would have died to keep him there. But I know Larry was hurt not getting a sniff at the [head coaching] position. Penn State's loss is Ohio State's massive gain."

Is today the first day official offers can go out to the class of 2015?

I believe official offers cannot go out until the end of August or beginning of September for that recruiting year. In this case for the 2015 recruiting class, Officials cannot be sent out until August or September of 2014.
