RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

who is jim otis? didnt he play back back back back up qb?

Someone should nominate him for Heisman.

Back to Beanie...no way he stays. I had some very slight hopes he'd return to set a bunch of Ohio State rushing records and threaten Archie's career total, but with how he has been dinged up this season he'd better strike while the iron is hot.

Tressel to Wells: It's time to go to the NFL

AP / Elaine Thompson
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel talks with running back Chris Wells during a 2007 game. Tressel would advise his junior RB to declare for the NFL Draft after the season.

COLUMBUS ?
It?s hard to imagine Jim Tressel as Chris ?Beanie? Wells, but if the Ohio State head coach could step into his big running back?s shoes, he would walk away from the Buckeyes in the desert.

Wells is a junior, and could return next season to play running back for Ohio State. That seems unlikely.

He?s also a bruising back with a burst that NFL general managers tend to froth at the mouth over and is likely a high first-round draft pick. After the Michigan game, Wells said he hasn?t thought much about the decision.

There is a good chance when Ohio State plays Texas in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 5, it will be Wells? last game.

However, his eyes did glint slightly after the Michigan game when he was asked about returning to make a Heisman Trophy run as a senior since it was ruined this season by a foot injury.

If it was Tressel?s decision, would it be tough?

?If it were me, it wouldn?t be tough,? Tressel said.

Would he turn pro?

?Shoot, yeah. In my opinion, he ought to be one of the first five guys picked,? Tressel said. ?We haven?t had that discussion yet. I also told him don?t bother filling out the NFL sheet, because I could fill it out for him.

?We?ve always said if you?re going to be a top-round pick, you may want to think about going.?

Folks in reality I think a lot of people expected this to be his last year at the beginning of the year anyway. I know that was my view. He's been LONG gone for a while now but some people just seem to hold out hope...for nothing but disappointment. No surprise here with what Tressel said yesterday publicly.

Yeah, like JL and Malcolm. Huge disappointments to those that held out hope.

I'm not expecting him to come back, but if he does it'll be a bonus for next year. Here's to wishing for another year of:

Amen to that!!

BTW - I would love to see a video clip that exclusively covered JUST
the runs with the BEANIE Hop and the Stiff Arm. That would be sweet.
