QB Todd Boeckman (official thread)

What color were the feathers on this birdie? Some really can't be trusted. Learned my lesson on using a pickup line suggested by this birdie...

Missing a class is bad, but let's please not blow this out of proportions. I purposely missed a whole day of classes by spending a whole day shooting guns and getting paid by the Department of Defense at Quantico while I was in college, but my academic counselor wasnt up my ass about it. I've probably slept thru a ton of more classes. Psh, big deal...:tongue2: Bottomline, Smith did not violate NCAA rules. What he did wrong was missing a class. I'd bet my house that Boeckman and Zwick have purposely missed classes too. So what's the issue?

I know it's been said before, but no matter who it is taking the snaps week 1 has a chance to grab the starting job by the balls. If that guy is Zwick, I'm not surprised in the least. If that guy is Boeckman, that's perfectly fine with me, as I'm 2 hours away from practice and have no clue what is going on. As long as we enter 9/10 undefeated, we're OK. On to week 2, whoever performed better against Miami deserves the start, regardless if they started the first game or came in later. As for Smith, he deserves just as much of a shot against Texas, but not until we show that we need him in there. Say Boeckman starts vs. Miami, dominates, and Zwick finishes. Start Boeckman vs. Texas. Say Boeckman struggles a little bit, Zwick enters, and OSU pulls away, start Zwick vs. Texas. Vice versa. If Boeckman (or Zwick) shows Texas how to play real football, it would not bother me in the least if Smith doesn't get action. Basically, consider me a Buckeye fan, not a "certain QB" fan. I'll take whoever is getting it done on the field. If it's Smith, then buckle up, because the guy is deadly. I absolutely LOVE having so many legitimate QB's that we could go any direction. Go Bucks

BTW, what is this shit about Schoenhoft being rated higher than Boeckman on NCAA '06? Not that it matters a fucking bit (I hope RS is that good), but being how it is, I don't know if I will ever have Boeckman taking the field!! How ironic would that be if TB takes OSU to the Rose Bowl, but he's 4th string on the game?? Good to be a Buckeye these days I guess!

Yeah, and you didn't skip a class to go to an event specifically covered in the NCAA rulebook either. Missing a day of class to get weapons training by the DoD is far different than going to help kids play football. If Smith and Boeckman skipped classes, it probably wasn't to go do someone that was specifically regulated by the NCAA. Also, it doesn't matter whether someone else did it or not...if you break a rule and get caught, be prepared to face the music. No one is blowing it out of proportions, but some of us are getting tired of others saying Smith did absolutely nothing wrong...if he did nothing wrong, then why is Tressel saying there will be "consequences"?

And as I am going to be so far away, please feel free to deliver one for me.

Let's all just be clear that Mili hasn't said that he wants Smith to sit forever. Rather, he is calling attention to the lapses of judgement that indicate leadership issues at a time when Ohio State needs leadership on and off the field.

Mili says that, if reports are true that Smith was not the best quarterback in spring training, this latest episode suggests that Smith has opened the door for Boeckman and Zwick. I don't see the argument with that, given Tressel's comments to the press about "consequences".

Mili goes on to say that, if Boeckman lights up Texas, then Smith may not get in the game. If one of these three quarterbacks is lighting up Texas, why would Tressel feel compelled to put anyone else in? And if he's not, why wouldn't he feel that he should try the others?
Just to be clear, I'm not trying to single Mili out...he's been rational and logical in his arguments, and while I do not entirely agree, I do see where he's coming from. I was just trying to keep the bucknutesque cliffjumpers off the ledge...:wink2:

Wait a second... are you suggesting that we, the people of BP, can have disagreements and not get all upity and hurt and etc..

Unreal.

The issue is that Smith is standing on thin ice throwing bowling balls...

Given what Tress said at the presser today about Smith following a "plan" to avoid missing game time, I still feel strongly that Smith starts the Tejas game.
From what I've heard he's headed for some extremely early morning aquatics...
