My power flickered a few times last night but other than having to reset a few clocks I wasn't inconvenienced at all. At work today I realized several coworkers lost power last night and are being told it'll be a couple days until it is up and running again.

I lucked out.

I never lost power that I know of, we were at the folks house and the land in Marysville most of the day Sunday. It did however remove the block "O" flag off my deck (took the bracket right out of the 4x4).

Good to hear that the power is back Clarity. I wondered how you were fairing without a/c.

Have to admit, I'm a bit concerned about it myself. Saw winds much worse than this several times in Jacksonville without this sort of outage, and JEA was (by far) the most incompetent power company I've been exposed to across 12 states. The only explanation for this level of damage is improper maintenance and poor preparedness. Even if the area sent a lot of its techs down to Texas, and I'm not aware that it has.

On the flip side, Florida is somewhat used to it, and thus more prepared. Still, AEP should always been ready for any reasonable contingency.

Anyway, it's over this time. We came online with power some time last night, got internet back around 4pm today. Honestly, I don't know what we would have done with a week down, it would have been ugly over here with my needs.

Good to hear you're back up and running.

I have traveled to my aunts house in Fairborn. Power in Centerville (near Dayton) is out, and they said it would be out for near a week. Our neighborhood is trashed...at least 100 trees have fallen...most houses have 1000s in damage.

A good site for getting that generator you've been putting off.

A small window air conditioner and a generator is a must for your garage (got my AC at a garage sale for 10 bucks)

Pep Boys has some cheap Chinese generators for about $350 that work just fine, as long as you are not using home computers. I would pay more and get one with the inverter if possible.

i was told by someone that they had sent a lot of linesman down to texas, they got no further than mississippi. so they returned, they drove all the way down there and then had to return. i also saw out of state trucks last night so it should be soon that many get power. like anything else it takes a few days to mobilize. i realize those guys are getting paid but working 18 on 6 off (or whatever they are doing) is hard, esepcially when you do a job with machinery, heights, electricity, driving and dealing with people who are mad and ticked about the whole thing.

i used to plow snow in college in upstate ny, let me tell you how fun it was to work for 24+ straight hours with no shower, no real breaks, no real good meal and have people all fired up, then youdhave the crazies driving like idiots all around you, and not giving you room to operate/work...

Quit your whining :tongue2:. I believe you, I've hear stories just like what you have said and those guys get sick of it really quickly

I believe Springboro got power back at 6am this morning. Interestlingly enough, parts of Centerville/Miamisburg and all of Lebanon had power after the ordeal, we were right in the middle and had nothing =P We were in a bad area though, some of the biggest gusts in the state were between the Dayton Mall area and south through Lebanon and Wilmington.

The damage is pretty bad in some places here. A barn on our corner had the roof torn off, sheet metal was flying across the fields, just slightly dangerous. Our Rubbermaid storage closet outside took to the skies briefly, came apart, seat coushions were flying everywhere. We had a large, metal awning with a canvas top outside. It was tied to our tractor in the grass while we've been rebuilding the deck. Well, it lifted up off the tractor, ripped the canvas as the thing contorted, then slammed into the side of the deck. Fortunately it only affected the outer skirt and not any of the new work we have done.

Our neighbor lost almost all of his shingles, we were pretty lucky in that respect. Lotta trees down everywhere, of course. Our other neighbor's large trampoline also took to the skies and landed in another neighbor's fenced in backyard.

Still no power in the berbs of the Natti. Duke is saying Saturday. They came on for about 10 min last night at 4 am and then we heard a huge bang...then no lights.

This is getting really really old.

FYI, 90% of Southern Ohio was without power yesterday.

hALFWAY THROUGH THE bENGALS' THE POWER WENT OUT. Or maybe that was just the Bengals. Anyway I haven't had to listen to/watch re-plays of Saturday.

Power came back on last night about 8:30. Could hear the whole neighborhood cheering, then, just as my TV was about rebooted it went out again. Came on for good around 10.

Saw an ice truck man surrounded before he could begin to unload at a Meier's. People offered him cash for a bag.

Saw some old prune walk out with 6 bags of ice. Hoarding. I hope he had money with Lehman Brothers.

Well, apparently my update for yesterday was a bit premature. Wednesday was for a complete assessment of the damage in my area... my neighbor complained that the lines were down and on a metal fence so she wanted to be sure someone had been out to see the damage before they fired things back up. So, did get a guy out yesterday, looks like I'll be out for a week.

Sucks, but, other than $100 or $150 in food gone bad... and whatever odd expenses I have in that time, no real damage or losses. Its been much worse for others.
