After Katrina we were fed quite well by the deep freezer of a newly opened Whole Foods. The manager stayed at my neighbors and we made runs to the store daily. Towards the end of the first week we transferred food to some generator powered freezers. I fondly remember one night eating scallops, crab legs and shrimp.

Yeah. I saw a lot of that Monday afternoon here. The whole 'treat a non-functional crossing signal as a four-way stop' thing really confuses a lot of people.

More evidence that the BMV needs to just throw out the current written portion of drivers exams and replace it with a standard IQ test.

Sorry Sir, but we're going to have to suspend your driving privileges. Turns out you're just too fucking stupid.

Yeah people have been doing that all over columbus. Fucking idiots.

Was talking about this at work last night, but how many babies do you think are going to be born in ohio in about 9 months :)

LadyB and I lost power for about 1/2 hour on Sunday, which we was really lucky. We are on a different grid from the whole town cause we live on the edge of Dub C. Still no power on the west end of town. The kidos have not been in school all week:smash: Alot of our family and friends have been without power so LadyB is helping the family with laundry and making sure the family has food to eat:bow:
No work monday, so I'll have to work sat and miss the Buckeye game:sad:

I just received this message from Whole Foods:

Just an FYI...

buncha fucking pricks, eletist bastard motherfuckers. Yeah, the rich people get free ice!!

whoopty fucking doo.

The dublinites will probably reject it because it isn't in a green bag.

The Arlingtonites will most likely thumb their noses because it isn't made from "pure mountain spring water"

Still down...

Gotta admit, its starting to wear on me a bit.

Though, I got to flash back to my youth and listened to the Indians game last night on a littel battery powered radio...

I think I've got about one more day in me, then its really gonna start to suck.

If there's a positive to being without power for a week, I've gone to bed at around 10:00'ish every night. :tongue2:

AEP/Lancaster is still saying midnight Friday to have everybody restored, but I'm pessimistic that we're probably not going to get power back until Saturday or Sunday. Our lines for our neighborhood are severed in at least one spot, and sagging from downed trees in other areas. Our circuit only feeds 25 homes, so we're pretty low on the totem pole in terms of AEP's priorities.

Sucks that the even numbered houses on our street have their power restored within 24 hours, and the odd numbered houses (which is us) are always out 3-5 days minimum when there is a major storm.

I can deal with living by candlelight & flashlight since I can charge my Nintendo DS and cell phone at work to cover overnight at home. But not having heat has sucked with the temps dropping into the low 40s this week. Thanks goodness for the gas hot water tank!

After this blows over and the area stores get restocked, I'm stocking up on lanterns, D-Cell batteries, and buying a generator.

Yeah, our powers back on.

The AEP guys were working past sunset out back then took off. We were getting worried it wasn't going to be tonight, then the refrigerator kicked on and the TV in the living room came on and my wife throws her hands up, "Yeah, we've got our power back on!" I run into the living room and throw my hands up, "Yeah, we've got college football back on! Yeah, holy shit Colorado has scored two TDs in five minutes!!!"

What was she doing with clothes on?? That's not how I left her....

Glad to hear so many are coming back online. Ours cut out for a bit today, but I think that was just as some surrounding areas (we have people on all sides that were scheduled to come online today) were brought up. I think it's going to be a good week or so before we can start taking electricity for granted again.
