Power has been out here in Galloway since just before 4:30pm. Neighbor just told Jo that word was passed on 610am that it could be down as long as a week in some areas. We don't have easy access to a radio, so I'm wondering if anyone here has any word, I'd love to hear it. Posting from Jo's cellphone while the battery holds up.

Same here in Newark. Well, at least a large part, from what I can find on AEP's website. I've lost power several times throughout the day, but it has clicked back on after a few seconds. AEP's website shows a large portion of southern and central Ohio without power, but no word on when to expect it to return. First Energy's website is showing the same for Northern Ohio, but a bit less severe.

I know this probably wasn't helpful at all, but damnit it took me like fifteen minutes to look it all up, and I'm posting it!

Duke Energy is saying something like 680,000+ people could be without power in the Cincy/Dayton corridor for up to a week.

Our power was out for nearly 8 hours tonight and I have a hell of a mess to clean up in the yard.

September 14 Widespread Damaging Winds - Preliminary Information

The remnants of Hurricane Ike merged with a frontal boundary across the lower Ohio Valley Sunday morning. Due to the very low pressure of this system, the pressure gradient to the south and east of the remnant surface remained very tight as the low raced into northwest Ohio through Sunday evening. This led to widespread damaging winds across much of the Ohio Valley, with gusts in excess of 70 mph reported. These severe winds persisted for several hours which resulted in much more widespread damage than typical severe thunderstorm winds, which usually last a matter of minutes.

As of 7 pm Sunday, the National Weather Service has received widespread reports of downed trees and power lines, damage to structures, and numerous structure fires across much of southeast Indiana, northern Kentucky, and western, southwestern and central Ohio. Widespread power outages have been reported across these areas, and numerous roads and highways have been blocked or closed due to debris and fallen power lines.

The following information is preliminary and will be updated on Monday September 15 with a summary of damage reports. Preliminary storm reports can be found by clicking here and by clicking "previous version" to view all reports from the event.

My power has been hit or miss all night but the outages have been brief. Looks like the winds have calmed, so hopefully order can be restored throughout the state soon.
