It's becoming pretty clear that student athletes... assume they have a little more leeway than the average student.

When, in fact, they have FAR less leeway than regular students. Ask the NCAA...unless that's a violation. Then don't.

And for the record, my comment in regards to Dorian is in support of the school, not a criticism of it. I'm saying that I think the severe punishment (year suspension) is justified.

Things I did in college that would not have gone over with the NCAA

1) Let my buddies buy me beers, lunch what ever
2)had a job for the full school year
3)party'd in a way that would make most other than buckyle blush
4)The list goes on and on

I did too, but I also wasn't on a full ride.

I met Dane Sanzenbacher in a bar a couple weeks before the Rose Bowl. People were clamoring to have their pictures taken with him. "I can't right now" he said, "but I'll be outside in a few minutes." A few minutes later, he was outside taking pictures with everybody, then headed right back in. The guy understood the rules he was supposed to be following, and he followed them.

Hope McVey can get healthy and be the stud he was in high school. Glad we have Grant, Crowell and Price coming in. They may have to provide depth. Go Bucks

Just a thought, but Durham was supposedly moved to FB. Perhaps the coaches will reconsider. Also, Price reportedly is a crunching hitter, but doesn't necessarily have the measureables of the other linebackers -- perhaps he can be Boren's replacement as lead blocker.

1) If you were in a position to where the NCAA would come into play, that would mean that many of your buddies would be teammates, and them buying you lunch, etc., wouldn't be a violation
2) NCAA doesn't prohibit side employment
3) Even underage drinking falls under school and civil rules, not the NCAA

Durnham was moved to fullback because of JT Moore's progress and so we are talking about different positions. He was also moved out of need. I seriously doubt that they move him back to Defense, but I guess anything's possible.

I think Curtis Grant gets an early shot because of this.

I'm not up on Bell's status before this incident. Was he a redshirt? Just curious if the suspended year can count as a redshirt since he didn't play. Just curious becaus Marcus Hall is in a similiar situation as far as eligibility. He missed a year but not due to an official "redshirt"

It really really sucks to lose Bell for the year but at least the incoming frosh provide a nice insurance poilcy as far as depth. Not to mention, Jordan Whiting might be able to fill his role as can McVey if he can get healthy. I'm still excited about this season, I'm sorry others aren't. We still have great depth on D at all positions
