ESPN stated on College Football Live today that Dorain Bell had transferred. They were talking about the current players that were named in the SI story, and said he wasn't one of them, since he had transferred.

I don't have any other source that confirms that information.

It was on a graphic that was up when the host (Anish Shroff) was interviewing Joe Schad.

They didn't act like it was news about Bell, it was just stated matter-of-factly.

No it was the host (Anish Shroff) who said the the SI article implicated 9 current players, but it was only really 8 since Dorian Bell had transferred.

He was interviewing Joe Schad at the time though

I don't think they're correct, wouldn't be the first time. Bell hasn't made any official transfer plans known.

It wouldn't surprise me at this point if some ESPN lackey stumbled upon the Bell to Pitt rumor from early May (refuted by Bell's father and Pitt's coach) and didn't bother to look any further. I imagine the conversations in the ESPN "news room" sound a lot like this:

Yup. They'll all print their retractions in two weeks when people are burned out on Ohio State stories and won't read anymore of them.

Dorian is the 6th Buckeye who wasn't named in the report to the NCAA. 'Course he was already suspended for the season, so I guess it's a moot point.

That was in the Ozone forum. It was posted Rusty Miller of the AP was reporting that he was the sixth person.

Did he redshirt his freshman year? I Was always hyped about this kid coming, but if he didn't redshirt next year would be his last :(

I would think an NCAA 5-game suspension holds up if to the first year a player would be eligible. Whether that be with the current team in year 1, or the first year eligible after a transfer year. I doubt a student-athlete could duck a suspension via the one year transfer wait.

Yep. A school-levied suspension yes, but an NCAA suspension- no.

Right, the school suspension may only be held up by ethical of coaches. Todd Graham at Pitt I think made that comment that he wouldn't be taking any transfer who had a school suspension.
