Jameis Winston (QB Browns)

If she did have a rape kit done that night (hopefully she did, but don't think it was mentioned conclusively in any articles I've read), the results should be enough to get charges and take this to trial...IF the girl is willing to go through a trial. I think that is the biggest question right now. If they see that they have physical evidence via a rape kit and medical docs, her testimony would likely make a conviction a near certainty. With just the medical evidence but no willingness on her part to testify or push the matter personally, the chance of conviction goes down and they probably don't press charges.

I can reach all kinds of conclusions without every single fact. In fact, I'll do it right now.

Without knowing which players on which team will not play due to injury or suspension or having an accurate weather forecast, without knowing if any player on either team will be nervous, scared, or sick on the day of The Game...

49-19, Buckeyes.

I was responding to kujirakria on his presentation of what appeared to be an opinion based on facts. I am sorry if my email appeared to be directed at you. I would never want to interfere with your or anybody else right to form any uninformed opinion you want.

We have an intern here who goes to FSU. Sounds like Jameis is going to be cleared soon. What he relayed to me sounds a lot like the Hyde situation, where what was reported to the police by the victim is a highly exaggerated version of what really went down, and may border on filing a false report.

We will see what the overall outcome is, but the general consensus is that he will be cleared of any charges sooner than later.

The general consensus amongst...FSU fans?

The way he was acting at that press conference was odd as shit if he's innocent

No, among people who follow college football in Florida. I have a couple of managers that were praying for a conviction since they are UF grads/fans, but even they are saying that they believe that nothing will come of it.

Most definitely the best news if true. And if so, I feel bad for Winston.

She did, and the DNA matches. But Winston is claiming it was consensual.

I think it's likely the case will be dropped; but I don't agree that it's in any way comparable to Hyde's situation.
In Hyde's case, the police did their job and properly investigated the incident immediately
In Hyde's case, there was definitive evidence to vindicate him (video)
In Hyde's case, he was still suspended for 3 games** and that wasn't lifted despite being vindicated
In Hyde's case, it was all wrapped up in a typical timeframe

None of that is the case here. We'll never know what really happened b/c of the lack of evidence either way, thanks to the police refusing to do their job. It may be the police had reason to believe she's full of it -- but that's not their place to make that call. Their job is to investigate regardless so that the Lawyers can make that decision; or if it goes far enough a Jury. I'm sure a lot of the cops in Columbus are Buckeyes fans; I'm sure police in Columbus get a lot of false reports; but they still followed through with procedure and did the right thing. Tallahassee Police Department didn't, and their actions effectively threw the case in Winston's favor.
That doesn't prove Winston did it, it doesn't mean the TPD had ulterior motives either... it does mean that without some really strong evidence either way (outside of witness affidavits provided 11 months after the fact), that we'll never know the truth. If I were the victim***, I'd consider the unlikelihood of pursuing a case against Winston - and perhaps instead begin Civil Proceedings against the City and Tallahassee Police Department. In that respect, she could have a very strong case.

** And Urban Meyer isn't the only one to be proactive about such things. I remember in January, Mack Brown sending McCoy home early for allegations that were subsequently dropped
*** which assumes the victims story is truth, b/c I'd never make some bs like this up

No offense, but I would think that an FSU student would be an excellent source of wishful thinking rumors but poor source of any facts. ESPN and Yahoo have their issues, but they can probably stay out in front of the FSU student body.

We are floating in a sea of rumor and innuendo. Even the so called "facts" are mostly rumored facts.

I'm not even sure what it would mean to "clear" Winston. "Clearing" implies clearing of charges. But no charges have been filed. Seems to me this only really goes completely away if the girl withdraws her complaint. I have a relative who has been fighting a rape charge with less basis than this for a year and a half. Charges have been dismissed only to be brought back via a different avenue.

As far as it being similar to Hyde in that it was "exaggerated" - it was rape or it wasn't. You don't need to exaggerate rape.

But I still believe anything coming from the FSU student body is just them believing the rumors they want to believe.

Fans of the football team here at Florida State University last week called the woman who says the star quarterback raped her a liar and a whore.

They used these words and worse in anonymous posts in ugly Internet caves.

The police warned the dirty little bitch. Slut should have just enjoyed the sex and kept her soiled underwear as a souvenir. When she finally does drop the charges it will be proof absolute that she was a lying whore all along.

I'm just glad that girl in Westerville didn't have to worry about anything like this.

If the case does get dropped. The TPD and FSU better make damn sure that the girl and her lawyer keep their mouths shut. If she is still claiming she was raped and charges aren't filed this will get really ugly for everyone. The PD has screwed up this case so bad already I don't see how they can not press charges unless there is overwhelming evidence that it was consensual.

This x1000. I mean shit, I know plenty of tsun fans and they were all praying Winston was innocent so tOSU wouldn't play for the title. The general consensus around here is, that he's guilty

Jock sniffing is a funny thing, and I'm certain it eventually leads to full retardation. I can't escape the irony that most of those white frat boys, townies and football fans would be dead certain that the victim was telling the truth if this guy were a walk-on safety much less some anonymous black law student.
