Mickey wasn't a great player but his exit is emblematic of a greater problem in the program right now.
A year or two of marginal recruits. Not sure if there were bad eggs as well, but at a minimum, they weren't talented enough to put tOSU in the tourney anytime soon.
Mitchell was previously a higher level recruit but hasn't played like one for years (before college) .
I don't think he was an OSU caliber recruit in the last few years of HS. I think he was when he initially verballed. I'm not sure how it should have been handled. So you're in agreement with matcar that Thad shouldn't have recruited him, and that Thad's doing so is indicative of a "problem?" Just not sure where you're going with that...
I would agree with this. I do think some sort of changes are needed if we are going to improve again. Somehow the staff as a whole needs to improve the level of player brought in over what we have seen the past few years. I definitely do not want to see Thad go, but his supporting cast may need to improve.I don't think he was an OSU caliber recruit in the last few years of HS. I'm not fond of the "OMG BIG PROBZ YO!!" conspiracies. I think Thad had the best talent in the midwest for the better part of a decade, and then the Amir class signed and the success, effort and winning eroded. I think if Thad hired a few ballers, and got Chris Jent back, they'd go back to being a top-5 B1G team pretty quickly. I think he's very capable of that.
